✈️📖 Travel as a way home. Join us Wed., Nov 11 at 7pm for an evening with Ebony Walden, celebrating her new memoir Where I'm From: A Poetic Journey Across Five Continents, in conversation with Deborah D. Douglas, author of Moon U.S. Civil Rights Trail. In 2010, Ebony quit her job and set off solo across five continents. She taught in Guatemala, volunteered in India, led poetry workshops in Kenya, and paraglided over the Swiss Alps. Everywhere she went, she wrote "Where I'm From" poems with the people she met. 🌍✍🏾 Together, Ebony and Deborah will talk about Black diasporic travel, cultural memory, and how the places we move through shape who we become. Stay for the Q&A and book signing! 📍 Women & Children First, 5233 N. Clark St., Chicago

My book has been out seven weeks and it's been an exhilarating and exhausting endeavor. I've been to 10 cities across 9 states, from bookstores, libraries, living rooms, podcasts to colleges, in conversation with writers, professors and countless friends. Whew...and I'm just getting started. You can help me in a few ways: buy the book (several copies - it makes a good gift), leave a review, tell a few friends about it or bring me to a stage near you. The book Where I'm From: A Poetic Journey Across Five Continents is about where I've been, this book tour is about where I'm going. I invite you to be a part of the journey. I know most of y’all 🥷🏿ninjas ain’t getting me shit for my birthday, so here’s how you can help. 😂 I turn 46 on November 5, and my birthday wish is 46 Amazon reviews for Where I’m From. I’m at 22, so I need 24 more! Haven’t read it yet? You have 24 days. The book is 304 pages—that’s 13 pages a day. I did the math. You can do the reading. 😂 Buy the book, read it, and leave an honest Amazon review by November 5. Already read it? You’re ahead of the game. Go leave that review! That would be one of the best birthday gifts you could give me and a considerable upgrade from the nothing you were probably planning. 🤣💛 46 for 46. Help a birthday girl out! by @ebonywalden80
