In our upcoming episode of The Edit Alaverdyan Podcast, we welcome Erika Komisar, psychoanalyst and author of Being There: Why Prioritizing Motherhood in the First Three Years Matters. We’ll be unpacking the myths surrounding daycare and its impact on young children. Komisar sheds light on how early separation from primary caregivers can affect emotional development and well-being. Join us for this eye-opening discussion about the importance of parental presence in those critical early years. Tune in this Thursday! by @edit_alaverdyan

There is something profoundly beautiful about a childhood spent at home with your mother.

In those early years, children don’t need constant entertainment, structured activities, or a schedule filled from morning to evening. They need time. They need space. They need the safety of knowing that their mother is near.

When a child feels safe, connected, and emotionally regulated, there is more room for curiosity, creativity, and imagination. A calm environment gives them the opportunity to explore their own thoughts, invent little worlds, turn ordinary moments into adventures, and learn through everyday life.

There is something special about the unstructured hours at home playing with kitchen utensils, looking out the window, listening to music, helping Mom cook, reading the same book for the hundredth time, or simply being bored enough to discover something new.

A mother’s presence offers a familiar emotional anchor. That sense of security can support a child’s developing nervous system, confidence, independence, and ability to explore the world.

We need to fight for more mothers staying home. It’s about recognizing that childhood doesn’t have to be rushed, and that being home with a loving, present parent is not an absence of education.

Sometimes, the greatest learning environment is a home where a child feels safe enough to imagine, curious enough to explore, and loved enough to simply be a child.

We don’t have to fill every hour of their childhood. Sometimes, we just have to give them the space to live it. by @edit_alaverdyan

We’re always grieving, even when there’s nothing to grieve about. by @edit_alaverdyan

We grew up eating home-cooked meals, thinking it was just something that happened every day. We didn’t realize how much time, effort, and love went into preparing those meals until we grew up and started cooking for our own families.

Only then did we truly understand what our mothers did for us, day after day, without asking for anything in return.

There is so much power in walking away from people who constantly need to prove you wrong. Some people make even the simplest conversation exhausting because they aren’t interested in understanding you; they’re interested in being right.

Some people wonder why, when everything is finally peaceful in a relationship, their partner suddenly stirs up problems.

Here’s one possible explanation: when someone grows up in chaos, peace can feel unfamiliar, uncomfortable, and even threatening.

Their nervous system may become accustomed to stress, conflict, and emotional unpredictability. When life finally becomes calm, they may unconsciously create conflict because chaos is what feels familiar to them.

Some people struggle to tolerate peace because their bodies and minds have learned to anticipate danger, even when there is none.

They don’t necessarily crave chaos. They may simply not know how to feel safe without it.

Healing means learning that peace isn’t boredom, love doesn’t have to hurt, and stability isn’t a threat.

Sometimes, the healthiest thing you can do is stop participating in the chaos and allow yourself to experience the peace you’ve worked so hard to build. by @edit_alaverdyan

I find it morally repugnant watching people brag so hard that your eyes start to hurt.

Look, we understand. Sometimes you feel the need to show off to reach a certain audience, but psychologically, constantly seeking validation through bragging isn’t healthy. You’re doing more harm to yourself your soul and your energy than you realize.

Be humble. Be grounded. You don’t have to announce everything you are or everything you have.

Trust me, the people who need to know will know. Your character will speak long before your bragging ever does. 🤍 by @edit_alaverdyan

These are the generational cycle breakers let them cook. by @edit_alaverdyan

And you still say, “God bless them.” 😂

Because wisdom never fails.

To anyone who has ever felt this way: I’m proud of you. Proud of you for not allowing what happened to break you down. Instead, you turned it into motivation. You kept going. You grew. You became stronger.

Sometimes the best response is simply to keep becoming the person God called you to be.

You’re a walking inspiration. It is what it is. 🤍 by @edit_alaverdyan

One day, I got sick, and everyone went to bed… but my mother stayed up with me.

That’s a mother’s love. ❤️

Love your mothers. Appreciate them while you have them. There are some kinds of love you can never replace. by @edit_alaverdyan
