Awesome night last night celebrating Metal Hammer’s 40th birthday at the Big Red in Camden!!! 🥳🍻

Great to catch up with Merl, El and the team and so many friends and familiar faces from across the metal community.

We’re so grateful for all the support Metal Hammer has given to Raven Records. Their feature when we first opened helped introduce the shop to the wider metal community, giving us a huge boost at a time when we were just finding our feet. Having that support and a platform to share what we were building, helped lay the foundations for what Raven Records is today. 🙏🖤

Thank you to everyone at Metal Hammer and a very happy 40th birthday!!!! 🤘🤘

We had a party yesterday for some of Hammer’s friends! Big thanks to @merl_stuff for organising and to @theimperialpalaceof.bigred for having us.

It’s pretty surreal to see Metal Hammer reach 40 - I’ve been here 11 years and was a reader long before.

We’re very proud to be here in 2026, celebrating legends such Metallica and Iron Maiden alongside a new generation of artists like Guilt Trip and Native James, and I think it says a lot about metal culture.

It was great to be in a room full of people who’ve shaped Hammer’s history, and of course we raised a glass to the much-missed Mick, Malcolm and Michelle.

We also had some flyers around for @metalfornepalorg - a charity doing great work, especially in the current crisis. Please go check them out.

Huge thanks to everyone who’s been involved with Hammer over the last four decades - music industry folk, contributors, and, of course, our amazing readers. More fun stuff is coming (see: @dotf.live ). We love you!

Blurry selfies incoming… scroll to the end for a suprise!

We are 40! 🥳

Thanks to all our amazing readers, the incredible bands we cover, the excellent industry people behind the scenes and all our talented contributors for helping Metal Hammer reach this heavy metal milestone. 🖤

We’ll be celebrating with some fun stuff this week, and more to follow. Proud to be part of the world’s best community!🤘🏻 by @el_goodman

I 🩷 Radar Festival! What an incredible weekend - and this year proudly sponsored by Hammer. Manchester got @thyartinstagram @skindredmusic and @animalsasleaders as headliners, plus a bunch of other incredible bands including @cagefightldn @voyagerau @northlane @heartofacowardofficial @employedtoserve @pintglass_gthc and many more.

And it wasn’t just about seeing bands. There was a whole floor devoted to trying out gear and playing games, there were jewellery and art shops, and a bunch of masterclasses. Not to mention endless cake, cat colouring-in sheets, a record shop and arcade machines. The vibe is always inclusive and FUN!

So excited to see what they do next year with their new space, @magnascience in Sheffield (I’m a big fan of Magna - see final photo 😂🔥)

Big congrats and thanks to @joveie @cat.or.catherine @mattdebenton and the whole @rdrfestival team 🤘🏻👏🏻 by @el_goodman

Iron Maiden are back on the cover! Ahead of Eddfest, we speak to Bruce and Steve about their 50th celebrations and what the future holds. Plus! The issue comes with a free water bottle - perfect for this heatwave 🥵
