Slow autumnal Saturday. A few dresses on the line, drying in the garden. Large bowl of moûles and a cold Hoegaarden followed by reclining on the velvet sofa to absorb myself in the shenanigans of the wonderful @richard.e.grant in “Traitors” on BBC iPlayer plus a little bit of this and a quietly doing that.

Get on your bike @pashleycycles. Waiting on the platform for a train with my trusty steed, my beloved old Pashley. Wabi Sabi.

Pootling about in Brum my hometown. England’s second biggest city has hectic chaos and quiet serenity co-existing side by side in the centre, if you know where to look.

Sometimes it is necessary to escape far from the madding crowd and find nature amongst the chaos of a city. It helps one to become grounded, to slow down and breathe.

I love thought provoking and stimulating architecture but generally can’t bear places where town planners remove every tree and blade of grass.

Seeing red (and orange) whilst out & about in the world in the last seven days from sunrises, fizzy pop, @riverisland preloved oversized belt, @jackwills preloved tartan trousers and tinted lenses in Hertfordshire. Christ is King graffiti, @vamuseum napkins and club signage in Birmingham. Brickwork and double decker buses in LondonTown. Culminating in an irritating individual projecting their tedious red anger lack of self worth in my direction-yawn. ”’Twas brillig and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe…” Ach well, these things (people) were sent to try us.

Preloved, because it sounds romantic. Sustainable, because it sounds worthy.

Love cycling o’er hill or dale, but, in this case cycling over speed bumps in a rather luvverly leafy green residential area. Later on I cocooned myself in the velvety club chairs at my local cinema and watched the mockumentary “Lady” starring the fabulous @siansstillspace and filmed on location Somerleyton Hall.

Tonic: Sometimes one takes to one’s bed, or one may travel to the coast to take the sea air. Walking in nature is another fabulous tonic.

I emerged myself in the truly incredible worlds of Frida Kahlo and Tracey Emin with a glimpse into the world of Giacometti sprinkled on top at Tate Modern. Fan girled in all the exhibitions, took a gazillions photos, read all the descriptions and people watched the other art lovers when a wooden bench was unoccupied.

Whilst meditating on the platform back at London Blackfriars, on my way home, I took this rather fabulous photograph of a train in one of its natural habitats.

Yum, yum, yum, loving chilling in the sun! Last night I was counting shooting stars in the wee hours and the trails left by some of them caused me to gasp. Today the temperature, that heat, takes a little adjusting to and a lot of blissfully quiet, meditative moments in my garden with mama’s little helper.

An abundance of al fresco eating, light weight frocks, outdoor meditation at sunrise & sunset because “life moves pretty fast and if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Spinach, chestnut mushrooms and loads of garlic sautéed in virgin olive oil. Ooh and topped off with sliced red jalapeños.

To quote the inimitable Roy Ayers “My life, my life, my life; in the sunshine. Everybody loves the sunshine.”

I stumbled across this bucolic babbling brook scene whilst out walking with an old college friend in my locale. We sat in the sunshine on the bridge like school girls with our legs dangling over and observed dragon flies, varied butterflies, darting bird life and the flow of the brook’s waters.

Every cool breeze was welcomed by our skin like a refreshing drink of water. We talked of this and laughed at that and never a tear was shed.

Huzzah! The braids are uninstalled and my Afro is back for a brief period until I detangle the inch & a half locs at the roots.

Must meditate with zenful thoughts for the task ahead. @beyonce said (not to me personally you understand) that it only took six days to untangle @jayz ‘s mighty headful of locs, but, then he would have had a whole team of hair professionals tasked with that mammoth undertaking.

Anyhoo, it felt quite nice swishing my hair about in the sunshine followed by a bowl of Greek yoghurt & strawberries 🍓🍓🍓🍓.

Here we go again; time to uninstall my braids, detangle the locs and switch to DND.

Doing this delightful (note the sarcasm) chore outdoors to birdsong, high up enough to not be spotted by neighbours or hidden in the garden behind the parasol, admittedly creates a nice ambience. Fresh air, vitamin D and barefoot. C’est
magnifique!

Mama’s got to focus on the end game!

Totally oblivious to the fact that today I was preloved mooching in 34 degree celcius heat, on my summer staycation. Seriously glad when I stepped into the cool air of my hallway after a 30 minute walk back to home sweet home with its abundance of preloved gems. What a simple, yet glorious day.
