A fine art gallery and design store selling products from the industrialized world.

$You have four days left to see this treasure of a show in a treasure of a building. SilviCulture a show curated by @sawatts02 and featuring work by @mhurstfrye.photo @fire_complex @_jeremiahbarber_ and many others. The artwork is great but as a bonus you also will have access to the UC Berkeley Wood Products Building which is located in the Richmond Field Station, a complex of buildings housing research centers for a variety of specialist areas. This one happens to be wood. There is an extensive xylerium which houses drawers and drawers of wood samples, glass mounted wood cross-sections and other woody arcana. We happened to do printing for the show, and had to see it to support our friend Shirley who curated it, and I cannot encourage you enough to see this space. What I’m posting here is a tiny fraction of what it’s like inside the building. Very cool Bay Area science history! We’re going back and will see you there! Look up the SilviCulture at the Berkeley Wood Products Building for location. Hours are 12-5 everyday until 10/25 by @electricworks$

We’ve been involved with the San Francisco Arts Commission’s Art of Market Street since 1999. Proud to have worked with these great artists and @mccalmanco on this project which is currently up in downtown SF. It’s always a thrill to see something made in our studio up in public for all to admire.

From George McCalman:

Artists Miriam Thompson @thefalconandthefilly
George McCalman @george.mccalman and Ayana Miyoshi @ayanamiyoshi explore what’s possible when we move from critique to creativity and expand on how our local monuments can be collaborative, evolving and responsive.

Located all along the Civic Center and downtown market Street corridor, the print and digital kiosks represents three distinctly singular artistic evaluations of the monument project.
Shaping legacy: San Francisco monuments and memorials is a city-wide public art and civic initiative led by San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC) and is dedicated to reimagining public monuments, celebrating neighborhood histories, and centering, diverse artist voices across San Francisco.

Results are in! The best way to start your week is have @george.mccalman in for a proofing session, conversation about shamanic energy, the state of art making, and a general collaborative idea session. Highly recommended! by @electricworks

Here is my Raven painting in oil. I wanted to create the blackest black… without using a bit of black!!! This entire painting is created #with just three colors, red, blue and yellow, with a touch of white. That’s it!

Delighted to share that I‘ve been selected for a new public art project with the City of Emeryville. I have been commissioned to create a mural for the Garden Conference Room at City Hall.

Deer in the Cosmos: Looking for Time will span two adjoining corner walls measuring 80” x 120”, creating a continuous visual landscape that opens the room outward into a vibrant garden scene. By bringing nature’s imagery indoors, the artwork will transform the space into an immersive, nature-inspired environment.

What I like about this jewel-box space is that the conference room walls are predominantly glass, so the mural will be visible to the public from the exterior hallway as they pass by.

A distinctive feature of the installation, and new for me, is the integration of a clock in the cosmos of the mural’s starry sky. Super excited to see this space transformed from a utilitarian meeting space into a place of imagination and wonder.
I look forward to working with @electricworks to produce the work. This project is scheduled for installation of spring 2027, so stay tuned for more info down the road.

Tonight’s the night! The 29th San Francisco Silent Film Festival opens at @castrotheatre with a screening of “So This is Paris” starring Gloria Swanson and Walter Byron (dir. Erich von Stroheim, 1929). Live music accompaniment by @elidenson and the @sfconservmusic Screening starts at 7! So happy to be back at the Castro. @sfsilentfilm by @electricworks

Today was splendid. I spent the afternoon with photographer @candacegaudiani prepping for a large-scale (7.5’ x 20.5’) commission. We’ve decided to use copper, aka atomic weight number 29, aka star of @shellacofnorthamerica song, Copper, aka my favorite element for the background of the wall treatment. Pictures to come when complete! by @electricworks

It’s been forever since I had work in a gallery! I spent all day today getting these amazing prints from @electricworks up @cafesuspirosf with tons of help from Yasmin @arcgallerysf and tomorrow I’ll have risograph posters thanks to @maloneydoodles 💕
This took so many pieces coming together! Phew. Next time you’re near Folsom Corridor, come check them out. All funds from the sales will help me pay for book tour expenses for my first book, The Wildcraft Drones, on shelves May 21 from @stelliformpress 🌿
Unframed prints will also be available on my website soon! by @electricworks

Last weekend at the Shipyard an amazing group of artists came@together for a one-night spectacle. @ebuckholtz who we’ve enjoy working with over three different gallery spaces along with @ianwinters.video.artist together known as @nighthouse_studio drew us in, but we were VERY happy to see illuminations by @nealitc (tip of the pen to @zander_rosefutures for the info), as well as @stacey_carter_art and @ockelbarbara filled out the bill. There were many more artists involved! Lots of hard work. A beautiful night. A bright moon! Good music! Everything! Keep your eye on @hunterspointshipyardstories for future events! by @electricworks

Sure, most of what we do is art and printing related. However we did get opportunities to dip into other worlds. Viz: our friend Daisy and Joe who just started the delicious and vital @la_cigale_sf restaurant (who got a Michelin recommendation yesterday—less than 8 months in). Anyway, Daisy stopped by to our back yard to get some flowers for the restaurant. With some assistance from our younger, we got the job done. by @electricworks

What a blast. Small business. Legacy Business. Mike. Judy. Ava. Dez. Clam. These are the real deal. They’re keeping SF the SF that lives in peoples’ imaginations! Here’s to y’all!

And here are just some of the people featured on shirts on show tonight. @mcswys @windychien @kalwpublicmedia @kalwmusic @studsf @rainbow_grocery @ferrisplock @crimplet @jujutlynch @avabava13 @dez_dog_39

Another anniversary, same war. The Ukrainians are still in the midst of a brutal winter. Russia continues to strike without regard to innocent life. Four years ago, Oleksii Kyrychenko took this photo of his daughter on the eve of war. Hoping this is the last year I have to post this. Sales from photos go DIRECTLY to children’s aid in Ukraine. DM for details. We still have framed and unframed prints availble. @o.k._img by @electricworks
