In 2023, Tlaxcala-born artist @helenagarza_ brought her multidisciplinary vision to our lobby.
Blending classical training, cyberpunk aesthetics, and creative code, she painted the large-scale mural greeting our guests at reception. El Ganzo y el Festival Internacional de Cine de Los Cabos abren la convocatoria para nuestro primer taller de escritura (del 6 al 12 de diciembre), una residencia de reescritura intensiva diseñada para cineastas emergentes radicados en Baja California Sur que buscan desarmar su borrador y encontrar la voz definitiva de su largometraje junto a asesores como Carlos Cuarón, Fernando Frías, Alejandra Márquez Abella y Gibran Portela.

A look back at an extraordinary chapter in our artist residency program with the amazing Mexican photographer @santiago_arau. Known internationally for redefining modern aerial photography, Santiago has brought the landscapes and spirit of Mexico to global stages, from the Venice Biennale to Madrid and Tokyo.
During his residency at Hotel El Ganzo, he turned his lens toward the striking terrain of our surrounding peninsula. His exhibition, Baja California from above, captured more than just sweeping views; it narrated the quiet dialogue between the land, the sea, and the elements. It’s been a couple of years since @rodriguez_graham brought "El Cimbrar de las Montañas" to our walls. At 65 square meters, it’s hard to miss, but the real depth is in how it actually came together. Omar worked with historic Mexican artisan workshops like Taller Perdomo and MVM Studios, alongside institutions like SAIC, to blend contemporary design with traditional Venetian and technicolor mosaic. Seeing the meticulous cutting and hands-on dedication up close gives you a completely different appreciation for the final piece.

We are thrilled to welcome our next artist in residence @renatapetersendlt. Based in Guadalajara, Renata’s work is a brilliant clash between craft and counterculture. She navigates religion, pop culture, and social behavior through a lens of sharp dark humor and satire, fusing traditional ceramics and blown glass with references to trash TV, consumer culture, and comic-style vignettes.

With an incredible international trajectory, her work has been showcased at major institutions like the Hammer Museum (LA), Museo Tamayo, and Museo de Arte de Zapopan, and sits in prominent collections like Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil.

Beyond grateful to have @cristohbal_g joining us as our Artist in Residence from May 22nd – 28th.

Working between Mexico City and New Haven, Cristóbal brings a beautiful, disruptive energy to our space. His work is a deep dive into the places where history, myth, and fiction meet, inviting us to question the stories we’ve always told ourselves.

We’re so honored to open our home to his vision and watch him weave new “micro-histories” within these walls.

Remembering when @malatalia_ brought the alchemy of indigo to our walls. Her process is a slow, quiet conversation with nature, a transformation. For Malatalia, it’s about the patience. It’s a craft rooted in her own heritage, from her grandfather’s origins in China to the meticulous mastery of Japanese textile traditions. Her work speaks of migration, of searching for home, and of finding clarity within the rhythm of the natural world.
She creates space for us to lose ourselves and find something familiar in the process.

We are truly honored to share this unique and creative session alongside @luisa_reyes_retana , whose remarkable trajectory spans the worlds of law, diplomacy, and award-winning literature. From her roots as a graduate of the Supreme Court of Mexico and UC Berkeley to her celebrated career as the author of Arde Josefina and Tu lengua en mi boca, Luisa brings a rare depth of intellect to every word she writes.

In this session, she shares an intimate and profound perspective on the craft of writing, deeply inspired by the raw, untamed nature of Baja California Sur. Moving beyond the surface of the desert and the sea, she invites us all to look closer and find the hidden significance in the world around us. This is more than a residency; it is a masterclass in curiosity and the creative spirit.

Every month, our white walls transformed. New friends, old souls, endless stories. Painters, sculptors, writers, dreamers, each residency added another layer to our collective canvas. Here’s what 2025 looked like through their hands. Art isn’t just hung on the walls; it’s baked into the architecture. We built this space to be a living, breathing laboratory, a place where the silence of the Baja desert meets the raw energy of the creative mind. We offer the canvas, the salt air, and the freedom to play, and in return, these visionaries leave behind a piece of their soul for all of us to experience. From the lens to the brush, and the sculpture to the written word, we watched as these creators inhabited our halls and redefined what it means to be alive here.

This board can bring clean drinking water to local schools in vulnerable communities in Baja.

Painted by children and finished by local artist @gilo__art, the piece is currently exhibited at @hotelelganzo @elganzo.headspace and is available through a silent auction.

Every $500 = 1 school with clean water (approximately 150 kids). All installation costs are sponsored by @bajasustainablewater, so your bid goes directly to impact.
