Little hands, tiny feet and a whole lot of learning. 🤎

Feeding your baby is one of those everyday moments where you slowly get to know each other.

When they’re hungry, when they need a break, when they’ve had enough. It takes time to recognise all those little signals.

At ELLE, we’re here to help you find your way, whether you choose breastfeeding, bottle feeding or a combination of both. by @elle_midwives

Becoming a parent is new for everyone. 🤎

Whether you’re giving birth or supporting your partner, you’re both learning as you go.

Holding your baby, recognising their cries, finding ways to comfort them. These everyday moments help build a connection.

And that bond doesn’t always happen instantly. Sometimes it takes time, and that’s okay.

Autumn is a season of slowing down. And sometimes, pregnancy asks us to do the same. 🍂

As the days grow shorter and the temperatures drop, you might find yourself craving more rest, quieter moments and a little extra time for yourself.

Growing a baby takes energy. And while life around you continues at its usual pace, your body is working hard every single day.

It’s okay to slow down, cancel plans or simply spend an afternoon doing nothing.

Listen to your body, take the rest you need and remember that you don’t always have to be productive.

Sometimes, doing less is exactly what you need. 🤎

Your body is changing. And so is the way you see yourself.

During pregnancy, your body goes through so many changes. Your belly grows, your shape shifts, and sometimes it feels like you hardly recognise yourself.

Some days you might feel beautiful and proud of what your body is doing. Other days, you might feel uncomfortable, insecure or simply not quite yourself.

And that’s okay.

You don’t have to love every part of pregnancy to appreciate what your body is doing.

At ELLE, we know that pregnancy isn’t just about physical changes. It’s an emotional journey too. And there’s room for all of it.

For the love of new moms, new dads and new life by @elle_midwives

That little pause after a feed.

Some babies need to burp after every feed, others hardly ever do. Both can be completely normal.

While feeding, babies can swallow small amounts of air. Holding your baby upright against your chest or shoulder for a little while can help release it — especially if they seem uncomfortable, restless or pull away during feeding.

And if no burp comes? That doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing something wrong. Not every baby needs to burp after every feed, and as you get to know your baby, you’ll start recognising what works for them.

Feeding isn’t only about how much or how often. It’s also about learning all those tiny signals in between. 🤎 by @elle_midwives

A new baby changes the rhythm of the whole family.

When it’s your second (or third) baby, the postpartum period can feel very different. You’re getting to know your newborn, recovering from birth and navigating broken nights, while someone else still needs you too.

There can be beautiful moments of meeting, cuddling and becoming a family in a new way. But there can also be jealousy, big emotions, tiredness and days when giving everyone what they need feels impossible.

It doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Everyone is adjusting to something new.

Give your older child time to find their place. And give yourself that same time too.

A family doesn’t have to find its new rhythm overnight. You grow into it, together. 🤎 by @elle_midwives

The final weeks can feel like a strange in-between.

Your baby is almost here, but no one can tell you exactly when. Your body may feel heavier, sleep can become more difficult and every little sensation suddenly makes you wonder: is this it?

Some days you might feel completely ready. Other days, not at all. And sometimes both within the same hour.

These last weeks aren’t only about preparing for birth. They’re also about slowing down, listening to your body and making space for everything that’s about to change.

Ask us the questions that are on your mind, even the ones that feel small or that you’ve already asked before. That’s what we’re here for.

And until then: rest when you can. Your body is already doing a lot. 🤎 by @elle_midwives

Getting to know your baby takes time.
Their sounds, feeding cues, sleepy signals and what helps them settle. In those first weeks, you're learning your baby while they're learning the world.

Head down, breech or still doing somersaults?
Your baby changes position throughout pregnancy. As your due date gets closer, their position becomes more important.

With an ultrasound, we can take a look and check how your baby is lying. Still not head down? There may be plenty of time to turn. 🤎 by @elle_midwives

Familiar faces matter.
Pregnancy can bring appointments, decisions, unexpected questions and sometimes unexpected turns.

At ELLE, you'll get to know a fixed team of midwives throughout your pregnancy. It means we get to know your story, your preferences and your pregnancy, while you get to know the people who may be beside you during labour.

That continuity is an important part of how we provide care.

Your uterus starts around the size of a pear 🍐
By the end of pregnancy, it has grown enormously to make room for your baby, placenta and amniotic fluid.

And your uterus isn't the only thing adapting.
Your blood volume increases. Your organs make space. Your centre of gravity changes. Your ligaments become more flexible. Your breasts prepare for feeding.

So when pregnancy feels physically demanding, there's a pretty good explanation.
