A few things I inherited from my mother: a passion for creative expression, neurodivergent wiring, a sensitive soul and generous spirit, and a green thumb. These irises were passed down to her from her grandmother. A few things I inherited from my father: the love of a good road trip, sarcasm and dark humor as a coping mechanism, generational trauma, and one incredible collection of old vinyl records. My dad and I had a complicated relationship; he was not much older and than I am now when he passed away. I recently took my 46th journey around the sun, and I’ve been reflecting a lot on where I’ve come from and where I’m headed…

These personal narratives get translated through my work, my illustrations often examining parallels between the natural world and the human experience. My great-grandmother’s daylilies are a colorful testament to resiliency. Stargazer lilies, a lesson in patience. Dahlias, a reminder that there is beauty to be found in impermanence, for change is inevitable. The sphinx moth, a note on knowing your own worth; for we all have a role to play. Through a slow and meditative series of layered marks, I consider the impact individual actions can have on others and the collective whole; both the remarkable and the invisible marks we all leave behind as humans. How do the things we inherit shape our identity without solely defining us? Age is a gift not afforded to all. With it comes the wisdom and clarity to discern which torches are ours to light and carry and what cycles are meant to be broken. Sending big love to all the cycle-breakers out there doing their best to forge their own path in a crazy world ❤️

Congratulations @toryfranklin_print ❤️‍🔥 It makes me hella happy to send one of these sassy gals your way!

Keep paying it forward, my friends; even a collection of small actions add up to measurable amounts over time. The horrors persist, but so do we ❤️

SCREAMING INTO THE VOID ✨GIVEAWAY✨

Find yourself screaming WTF into the void multiple times a day lately? You are not alone, my friend!

Giveaway details:

Winner will choose between these two mugs:

-Daylily: represents resiliency.
-Poppy: represents friends and chosen family; the communities we build with intention.

How to enter:

1. Like this post.
2. Pay it forward. That’s it.

You don’t need to tell me what you did, just do it. Do it when no one is watching. Do it when no one is there to thank you. Help a neighbor. Show kindness to a stranger. Donate to a cause you feel passionate about. Volunteer your time in your community. Call your elected officials. Use your voice for good.

Bonus entries:

-Drop a comment below and tell me what you are screaming into the void about this week.

-Tag a friend who is screaming alongside you in this dystopian hellscape.

-Share in your stories and tag me.

I’ll draw one name at random on Sun, Feb. 22nd. (I’ll cover shipping costs to anywhere within the U.S.; if you are outside the U.S. you’ll be responsible for all shipping costs and fees.)

P.S. - I’ll be opening up a limited number of pre-order slots for these mugs later this week, with a variety of salty choice words.

If you are not beyond horrified by the efforts of this administration to demonize and dehumanize marginalized communities and vulnerable populations, if you believe the cruelty and inhumanity that we are bearing witness to is somehow justifiable, then we do not even remotely share the same moral compass. I am and always will be a firm and fierce believer in human rights - in kindness, dignity, and compassion for ALL folks. If you have hate in your heart, take your hot mess elsewhere; I do not want your business.

For those of you that are outraged, heartbroken, and at a complete loss for what to do or how to help right now, I am right there with you. I have personally been in survival mode for sometime now and I’m realizing I must redefine my capacity as a helper. While I wrestle with my ability to be of service during these dark times, I am going to keep speaking out and showing up imperfectly. It’s not enough, but it is a start and I encourage you to do the same. Many of us are struggling to make ends meet right now (myself included), but I honestly believe that even the smallest of actions do matter and make a difference. I plan to donate a small portion from the sale of each pot I make this year to community organizations that are working to help protect the most vulnerable among us. Keep showing up, in any capacity you can. It matters ❤️ #fuckice #fucktrump #nohumanisillegal by @ellencduvall

The last wave of pre-orders will be all wrapped up and shipped out by the end of the week. Much gratitude to everyone who has supported me this year, in big ways and small ❤️

Another shout out to @theboxery for providing me with shipping supplies to ensure safe travel for all my precious cargo! by @ellencduvall
