Studio visit by @harayannas my most encouraging but objective critic. Aqua Green continued…🍀 by @ellieyannas
So pleased my Green Skerry was selected for the Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries 13 November 2026 - 21 November 2026. Many thanks to the judges #discerningeyeexhibition #etching #printmaking by @ellieyannas

Lovely to catch Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize the other day, before it closes. 1. My great friend @sarahjchristian looking at DESKTOP NOTATION#14 by @jim.mooney12, her friend from the RCA 2. View, foreground LA, LA, LA, I CAN’T HEAR YOU by @katemcdonnellart 3. RHODES OLD TOWN shimmering by Gary Lawrence. And many more wonderful drawings that I didn’t photograph, by artists that I came across thanks to @sandiemacraeartist and @postroomgallery over the years. Marvellous! Last day, don’t miss. #trinitybuoywharfdrawingprize by @ellieyannas
I was delighted to have been invited by a friend (thank you @nefertiti35) to the press viewing at the RA yesterday, and have had the privilege to see it without crowds. 1. Berthe Morisot Illuminated Boat 1889 2. Claude Monet The Beach of Juan-les-Pins 1888 3. RA The Bonnard room 4. Pierre Bonnard The Palm 1926 (detail) 5. Henri Matisse Room of Beau Rivage 1917-18 6. Picasso Still-life with Black Shutters, Lemon, Eel etc. 7. Nicolas de Staēl Sky and Sea 1954. I know that some critics disapproved of the selection of works, but for me it felt like a cherished short holiday on the Côte d’Azur. The light, the colours, the atmosphere… by @ellieyannas
Waving goodbye to the blues: these watercolours of an underwater world found not one, but two new homes. Inspired by Wendy Metcalf’s poem ‘underworld’ Thank you L & H by @ellieyannas
Eros/Thanatos, interesting to visit the Frida Kahlo and the Ana Mendieta exhibitions at Tate Modern back to back. The Frida rooms were packed, so you have to work hard to see the exhibits, (1.1,2.1,3,5) a solemn temple like atmosphere in the Mendieta rooms (1.2, 2.2, 4) I loved her little oddity film of the make believe parachute that Mendieta made with the children (should have copied the caption, sorry!) 6. I saw a big exhibition of Ana Mendieta’s work at the Tapies Foundation in Barcelona in February 1997, and the shamanic elements were what made the biggest impression on me, but in the Tate show I felt Thanatos a lot more. Maybe it’s our time, the unashamed atmosphere of violence against women, but I left with a heavy heart. A MUST SEE by @ellieyannas
FIRE, ENDANGERED, AFTER THE FLOOD, 2024-25. 142 cm x 112 cm, oil on canvas. My climate crisis trilogy. FIRE (so topical at the moment) was, inspired by the great fire of the Dadia National Park in the North of Greece in 2023, and the loss of life and wild birds (golden eagles, black vultures), I moved to the tropics with ENDANGERED, and finally AFTER THE FLOOD that follows the inferno. #contemporaryart #climatechangeart #contemporarypainting by @ellieyannas
AFTER THE FLOOD, ENDANGERED, FIRE 2024-25. 142 cm x 112 cm, oil on canvas. In reverse order, my climate crisis trilogy. FIRE was first, inspired by the great fire of the Dadia National Park in the North of Greece, and the loss of life and wild birds (golden eagles, black vultures) - so topical at the moment, moved to the tropics with ENDANGERED, and finally AFTER THE FLOOD which follows the inferno. #contemporaryart #climatechangeart by @ellieyannas
A wonderful day of gallery hopping with my friend @sarahjschristian today. 1.2.3. Prunella Clough (I love the description of her as « flâneuse and magpie ») @thomasdanegallery, 4.5. Phil Goss and Anna Pakosz @general_assembly_london and (last but not least) Caragh Thuring back @thomasdanegallery. By this time I was running out of phone battery so go to the websites for more images. #londonexhibitions by @ellieyannas
