Just a quick joint that came to me and I figured that I’d share. Because I haven’t posted in a minute. #poem #poetry by @emack69
Malkia I am certain. And can declare under oath. That black women have kept this world spinning. All from their kitchen tables. I’ve seen councils being kept throughout the day. From mornings grits & gospel to midnight moonshine & Motown. Neighborhoods giving or needing favors. And one on ones when a wife was being mistreated. Or some girl talk about the other night. And chile it got heated. But kids would have to go in the room and do your homework. Because that was grown folks business. Hell, even when I got of age. I didn’t feel of age. Because I held that table with such reverence. Their kitchen table did everything from cosmetology to astrology. And all of the stars and hot combs in between. I’m willing to testify under oath that this world. But especially America needs to count its blessings. For the wounds that were mended. Laughter that followed sorrows. And foresight that quelled fevers. Because it all could have ended. But the women at these kitchen table. Believed in a better tomorrow. For all. e.m. #poetry #poetrycommunity #blackwomen by @emack69
I’ve staved off the barons at the gate. So long. That I’m uncertain if I’m not out there with them. You can only protect something so much. Before it may feel jailed. e.m. #poem #poetry p.s. I was trying to find a visual. Something that matched the theme of the poem. And this old picture gave me that feeling. by @emack69
A joint I painted a couple of years ago. It can be from anytime because the road to freedom sadly is never ending. by @emack69
This joint came to me last night. And when I was trying to find a visual that incorporates the floating/flying feel. I remembered that I could use something that I had painted. It’s not the full piece but in my mind. It looks like he’s floating. And I used Aretha because she’s Aretha.🤷🏾 #love #poetry by @emack69

Two birds one womb. Happiest of birthdays to my twin @derrickmack201 Of course like most twins we had many nicknames growing up but my three favorites. Two of them were given to us by our uncles Pete & Repeat, Dirty Red & Blue Boy and personal favorite was given to us by our mom which was Rum & Coke. But I’ll always be good on being called twin. by @emack69
My symphony fit from the other day. The shoes I’ve had for years. And I finally got the opportunity to wear them outside.😊 #gucci #boglioli #thrifted by @emack69
