You up? 😉
Well, you probably are now ⏰

Just some relaxing flute music…. 🥰

When I started this 100 felt like forever away…and now we’re at Day 98. Thanks for sticking with me. 💕

This is an excerpt from Michael Hersch’s 17 minute long solo flute piece “unwrung, apart, always” a piece about the devastating myth of Marsyas 🪈🪈(if you don’t know…check it out, but be warned, it is not a pretty story.)

🐝🐝Buzzing after an amazing evening chatting all things Bach B Minor Suite with the incredible flute studio of 👑 Valerie Coleman @valerie_coleman_music at @msm.nyc

So much fun playing all the parts of this incredible piece as a flute quintet (so cool!) and getting deep into all the nooks and crannies!

And it made me want to share this snippet from a performance with San Francisco’s rockstar group @voicesofmusic where we flew through the badinerie 🚀. Check out the full video on YouTube (alongside their incredible video collection!) for the A’s and B’s not included here and a full widescreen view of the whole incredible group 😜

Some people run marathons 👅⚡️

Paganini’s lightning quick 5th caprice works so well on the flute! Always a great workout…fast and furious every time! (And so much fun to get to borrow the fantastic violin rep!)

This Sunday morning, please enjoy Henry Burleigh’s setting of Deep River, with the wonderful @emiferguson Emi Ferguson on Flute.

Deep river,
My home is over Jordan.
Deep river, Lord,
I want to cross over into campground.

Oh, don’t you want to go,
To the Gospel feast;
That Promised Land,
Where all is peace?

Oh, deep river, Lord,
I want to cross over into campground.

Will I survive? Let’s find out…. by @emiferguson

💃💃💃🧊🧊🧊

We did it! 100 days, 100 videos. Thanks to everyone who joined me along the way.

One of the unexpected joys of doing this has been realising just how much music I’ve been lucky enough to make with extraordinary friends and collaborators, in wildly different places, on different flutes (and occasionally no flute at all), spanning hundreds and sometimes thousands of years of music.

Here’s a little clip from the music video for Amour Cruel. Big shouts to @yvesfalanga for this one! Song is based on 17th century french song…but well, it’s been transformed 💃🧊

Thank you to every single person who played, sang, danced, composed, arranged, recorded, filmed, produced, presented, listened, commented, shared, or came along for the ride. There are SO many of you in these 100 videos.

And thank YOU for sticking with me through all 100 days. ❤️

Day 100! Here’s to many more!

PARTY LIKE IT’S 1741 🎉🪩

that’s the year Bach wrote this Siciliano from his E Major Sonata, BWV 1035, and we like to think this *might* 🧐have been what was happening late night at Zimmermann’s ☕️ 🏠

Well… probably not. But after 99 days, historical accuracy is starting to get a little loose around here. Break out the 🍾💃 sometimes the Siciliano just wants to go clubbing.

Very grateful to @flautistico_ @thefluteview @alloftraverso @dailybacharchive @thebaroquetoday @historyofmusichannel for collaborating on so many posts - I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful and big 🪈🎶 community 🥰. Go follow them for amazing performances.
