This recent bridal photo shoot is making my heart skip a beat. It is our biggest photo shoot to date. I designed each piece from vintage wedding gowns, many from their mom’s gowns. Thanks to my friend Jennifer @lifethroughjennseyes for helping me make my vision come to life and all the sweet models involved, many who are clients. A special shout out to those who loaned me your garments for the shoot too. If you want to discuss a possible refashion with your wedding gown, you can book an appointment online at www.emilygartner.com Dreaming is FREE! #refashion #weddinggown #vintagegown #circularfashion ♻️ 💚 by @emilygartnerdesigns

Where it started & how it’s going…over 3 years ago my friend @pjackson3180 gave me her vintage wedding gown. She gave me free rein with creativity. I deconstructed it and hand dyed some of it. And this bolero top was one of the results. It ended up on the runway @indianafashionweek in 2021 when @cjhammon modeled it. In the studio, @ashley.harter modeled it once again. (I’m not sure why I never sold it.) This year I finally challenged myself to make a complete bridal wear collection called L’Amour. And the irony that it landed on the front cover of a namesake fashion magazine in Spain 🇪🇸 @l.amourmagazine is beyond my wildest dreams. Thanks to my friend and talented fashion photographer @lifethroughjennseyes for making this happen and @ironhatmakeup for her makeup and hair artistry, along with a natural, newbie model to the scene @sabrinchandler I am in complete gratitude to all involved with this crazy journey of a garment. #bridal #bridalwear #weddinggown #bride #mua #fashionphotographer #creativelife #model #designer #upcycledclothing by @emilygartnerdesigns

We celebrated the season of the witch… by @emilygartnerdesigns

She walked in as a client, but left as a friend. This dear young lady came in hopeful that I would say yes to transforming her 1970’s cupcake tiered wedding dress, into the gown of her dreams. She’d already been to several shops who turned her down. She was from out of state and it would require quite a few fittings after each step to get it styled and fitting perfectly. But she agreed that wouldn’t be a problem. She came in with her best friend who was also very hopeful I could do the alterations & refashion. I couldn’t turn them down. Afterwards, I was simply humbled by her glowing review. Wishing her and her new husband many years of joy. #weddinggown #refashion #alterations #1970svintage #cupcaketiered by @emilygartnerdesigns

Never have I ever…made a wedding veil with headpiece. Michaela came to have her wedding gown altered and she wanted a veil, as well. I had this 1970’s Juliet cap that was donated by a friend and she fell in love with its unique style. It was just the bare cap at the time, so I created a quick mockup and came up with an idea to use the sweetheart neckline on her mom’s wedding gown to create it. I cut the neckline into individual lace appliqués and pinned a pattern to the cap. After she approved it, I hand stitched it all in place. I secured the double layer of netting through the back wire and finished the bottom edge with a simple ribbon hem, duplicating a technique from a 70’s gown I had just worked on. It is one of my favorite crafted pieces I have ever worked on. I was so happy that Michaela loved it too. #bride #weddingveil #vintagejulietcap by @emilygartnerdesigns

I know who I’m asking to be in my next fashion show. Carrie’s nephew is getting married and she looks stunning in her liquid satin sage evening gown. This was a top to bottom alteration with some fun, readjusted draping necessary. Lots of hand stitching was done on the “off the shoulder” drape.

It was literally a 3 hour turnaround on this dress. 😅 But she is ready for her sister’s Mexico destination wedding. So beautiful!

I love when my clients share their photos with me. This mother of the groom looked so beautiful in her navy gown with her hair in an ‘up do’ and natural looking makeup. She is an ER nurse by day, but she was totally transformed for this very special day and looking lovely as ever. #bridalalterations #motherofthegroom #MotG #eveninggown #theperfectfit by @emilygartnerdesigns

Congratulations to Paige Musgrove on her first runway show! She was a featured model in the Easter Seals fashion show. Thanks for asking me to give you the perfect fit.

This beautiful bride is definitely giving #Bridgerton vibes with that structured bustle. I was happy to do top to bottom alterations on her bridal gown. It wasn’t the dress she originally envisioned, but in the end, it was even better. #bride #bustle #weddinggown #bridalalterations by @emilygartnerdesigns
