POSTS STORIES REELS

🎉 It's here! 🎉 Our 2027 Calendar, 'Tools of the Trade' is available now!

For 2027, we celebrate the beautifully crafted and time-honoured tools that carry generations of stories, alongside those that reliably do their job well. The tools of landwork are integral to what we do, enabling us to work the land, produce food and craft products, while physically connecting us to the process.

From billhooks and scythes to baskets and spindles, this collection of beautiful lino cut images created by @emma_reith celebrates the everyday tools that make traditional land-based work possible.

We'll be sharing more about the tools we feature and the people that use them over the coming weeks!

We hope you love it as much as we do ❤️

A nice day re-printing my autumnal owl lino cut🍂

I’ve had lots of people asking about these, and I’m happy to say there’s now a few available again via @or.skye ! If you’re waiting on a navy one then I will be printing more towards the end of the month (when commissioned work has quietened down a bit…). If anyone has any other colour suggestions please do let me know below!

Some snippets of studio life over the past week or so 💫 and a sneak peek of my newest hare print! I have about a thousand new prints to share - hare included - but haven’t got round to taking proper photos of any of them yet, so these little videos will have to do for now. In the meantime I’m incredibly busy carving out what feels like an infinite number of plates for one of my most exciting commissions of the year! Feeling so grateful for it all and can’t wait to share more 🧡 hope you’ve all been enjoying this beautiful autumnal sun 🌞

A little October recap - lots of carving, lots of printing, lots of beach walks. It started with a trip to Poland, a mad first week drawing up about 20 different roughs, the next couple of weeks spent carving 8 fairly large lino cuts (plus a ninth one for fun), printing them all, re-editioning another set of 10 prints, lots of trips to the post office. Also lots of stormy waves, sunny but cold beaches, funny times with people I love (and my puppy!). All in all a very hectic but very wonderful month! 🧡

Printing a lino cut ❣️

Over this stormy weekend I’ve been hunkering down knitting my next jumper, and thought it would be fun to share a video of me printing this lino cut for the 2027 Landworkers’ Alliance Calendar (wearing my last hand-knitted jumper!) featuring a spindle and plenty of tangled wool 🧶 I feel creating lino cut prints and knitting are weirdly similar skill sets? Lots of hyper-focus and attention to detail - and both suit me well, being a bit of an obsessive perfectionist! Hope you’re all safe and cosy amidst this wild weather ⛈️

The absolute most satisfying part of printmaking - and the thing that keeps me going when I have a mountain of carving to get done - is the feeling you get when you peel the paper off the plate for the very first time, and finally get to see what you’ve spent all that time creating. Not sure if any of you will find it as satisfying as me, but thought I’d put this together for my own benefit at least!

Got my film developed from my trip to Poland with @blundstone and thought I’d share a few favourites on here, along with some videos from the time away. I’m genuinely so grateful for the opportunity to travel for work (very rare for me!) to somewhere new to me and so beautiful, and to have met so many talented and inspiring people along the way. And of course ever grateful to @blundstone_uk for the most comfortable boots to do it all in, I know as with my old pair they’re going to be very well worn!

Creating the cover for the @landworkersalliance calendar 2027 🌼

I’m so proud of my third calendar with the Landworkers’ Alliance - I’ve loved them all but I think this has to be my favourite (don’t tell anyone). And when I read through the brief way back in April (or was it March?) I just knew this would be the cover image! A last-minute change from poppies to corncockle flowers, lots of carving, a day’s printing, and finally the calendar is for sale through @landworkers_shop .

This project took up most of early summer for me, so I’ll be sharing lots more behind the scenes of it over the next few weeks! Stay tuned ❣️

For the past few days I’ve been lucky enough to be exploring Poland with @blundstone_uk @blundstone in their new Terrain boots, along with the most wonderful group of creatives from all over the world.

Despite my work being pretty much solely about getting outside and appreciating nature, I’m actually inside most of the time making it! So this felt like such a wonderful opportunity to take my work outdoors, and explore an area I’ve never visited before. It’s always so interesting seeing nature in a new country, what similarities and differences there are from what I’m used to at home, trying to get to know the plants and animals I’m not used to. After a super busy summer juggling various projects and trying not to burn out, this has been the most welcome break, and I’m leaving feeling refreshed and excited to make new work again❣️

Carving my latest lino cut 💫

Just before I went to Poland I unexpectedly had a free afternoon, so I decided to carve something for fun (rather than for a commission) for the first time in months! While I love my commissioned work a lot, it was actually so lovely to have the freedom to carve whatever I wanted, and find the joy and flow in it again!

Those of you who’ve been following me for a while might know that each year (excluding last) I like to make a lunar calendar - and I think this carving may just be the one for 2027! If you’re interested in being the first to know when they launch please do sign up to my mailing list - link in my bio as always ❣️ now I just need to get this printed - when I have another spare moment!

As much as I enjoy posting reels, it’s actually not really the best way to see a print - sometimes the detail gets a bit hard to see in a moving image (especially with my grainy ancient iPhone quality…)! So here’s a few still images of my Tawny Owl in Autumn print, in this lovely russet exclusively available via @or.skye 🧡

I originally printed this in a midnight blue, but I absolutely love this earthy colour chosen by ÒR - I’d love to know which you prefer! In between a mountain of commissioned work to carve out I’m (perhaps optimistically) planning a few of my own pieces similar to this owl, so any thoughts on colours etc you’d like to see more of are very gratefully recieved! 🍂
