Happy Publication day to HEART OF STONE!

HEART OF STONE is a stand-alone sequel to THE CARVER AND THE QUEEN by Emma C. Fox @emmafoxbooks with cover illustration by Amy Grimes @amygrimes_storypaintings. This historical fantasy novel is steeped in rich details and perfect for teen readers who love Russian folktales.

Check out the summary:

🐍 Ever since her father’s mysterious death six years ago on Serpent Hill, Lilia Stepanovna has struggled to help her family make ends meet. So when an old woman claiming to be her great aunt arrives and offers to show her the way to hidden treasure, Lilia leaps at the opportunity. Curious magic soon entwines her, though, and Lilia finds herself trapped by a sorcerer’s devious plot to seize the Russian empire.

⛰️ Dmitri Petrovich always expected to follow in his parents’ footsteps as a stonecarver, until a terrible accident left both his hands, and his dreams, crushed. When his best friend, Lilia, is swept off to Petersburg under suspicious circumstances, Dmitri embarks on a perilous journey to save the girl he loves—and to stop the dark powers that are working through her to take over all of Russia.

HEART OF STONE is available in paperback, hardcover, or Kindle editions from your local indie bookseller, or purchased online wherever books are sold! Our website is currently sold out with more stock on the way!

Hutchmoot 2026 filled my creative cup to overflowing 🫖 🌊 It has been such a gift to build friendships with other authors, artists and musicians through the years; to challenge, grieve with, and rejoice with one another; to celebrate the fruit of faithful labor done to the glory of God. Highlights of this year’s conference included a keynote from Newberry award winner Daniel Nayeri, a concert by Jess Ray, sharing my short story “Meeting Mrs Metcalf” in one of the sessions together with several of my dear author friends (plus, Daniel Nayeri shared a snippet from his upcoming release, “This is a Door”—can’t wait to read it now!), and a feechie song by my writing mentor, @jonathanhrogers (if you haven’t been introduced to the fantastic world of techies, read his Wilderking series and the newly-released Charlatan’s Boy!). Many thanks to @as_peterson , @andrewpetersonmusic , @jonathanhrogers @danielnayeri and the whole team at @therabbitroom for making this wonderful weekend possible!

So grateful for the chance this week to catch my breath…to soak up time with my husband and kids…to dream a bit as I watch the seabirds and listen to the waves…to enjoy the delicious lattes at @selah_coffee_ and get in some writing time!
10 years ago in this place, I drafted the early pages of my first novel, THE ARROW AND THE CROWN. Each October journey here has marked new writing challenges and adventures. This year I’ve been starting in on novel number 4! PHOENIX SONG is the sequel to THE CARVER AND THE QUEEN and HEART OF STONE—Book 3 in the Serpents & Stone trilogy. I’ve been dreaming up this story for a long time and it’s so great to finally be digging in!
