Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This weekend, I was blessed to receive an Honorary Doctorate in Christian Humanities from The School of the Great Commission Bible College and Seminary for my work with eMpowerment Inc. “Dream Big and Go Get It”. I truly appreciate the love and support of my family and friends who not only support the vision and celebrate my wins, but who challenge me to dream bigger and be greater. And I want to extend a special thank you to Dr. Angelia Williams for recommending me for such an esteemed honor. It is an AMAZING feeling when someone mentions your name in a room you never even imagined.

God is doing some absolutely amazing things in my life personally, professionally and purposefully. And I am truly blessed. This journey has not always been easy but It has always been worth It. Everytime I trust him, he shows up in a major way.

This Year Was EPIC at eMpowerment Inc!

This school year, we relaunched Empower University, as a multi-year program to empower students. We recruited and accepted our first cohort and kicked off the first SPARK! Career Exploration Camp!

But the real stars are our volunteers! Huge thanks to the 20+ incredible volunteers who conducted mock interviews, facilitated career talks, and hosted career day booths for over 500 students!

See the incredible impact in our new video!

Sometimes, the courage to use your voice starts with hearing someone else use theirs. 🩷🧡

A few of our girls enjoyed an inspiring outing to the She Runs the World HBCU Tour at Tennessee State University featuring Allyson Felix! Seeing her story on the screen and hearing from her in person sparked powerful reminders:

✨ Speak up, even when you feel scared, shy, or uncomfortable. Your voice matters before you feel ready to use it.

✨ Who you are and what you do are separate. Your worth is not tied to how you perform, what you achieve, or whether you win.

✨ Don’t be afraid to bet on yourself. Believe in your gifts and give yourself permission to pursue what’s possible.

And sometimes, it’s bigger than you. Speaking up can make things better for the people beside you and those coming behind you. You may be the voice that opens a door, challenges an unfair practice, or helps another girl find her courage.

This is why experiences like these matter. Our girls need opportunities to see what courage looks like and recognize that it lives within them, too.

Your voice matters. Your worth is already yours. Dream Big AND Go Get It! 🩷🧡

A dream becomes more powerful when a girl has confidence, guidance, skills, resources, and people willing to invest in her future. That’s what eMpowerment Inc. is building. Whether you donate, mentor, sponsor, or partner with us, you can be part of helping the next generation move from dreaming about their future to creating it. Get involved today. by @empowerteens

There are brilliant, creative, ambitious girls everywhere. The difference is not whether they have potential—it’s whether they have access to opportunities that allow that potential to grow. Every girl deserves spaces where she can discover her strengths, build confidence, meet people who believe in her, and imagine a future bigger than what she sees around her. When opportunity meets talent, everything can change. by @empowerteens

There is something truly special about being surrounded by like-minded women who don’t just talk about making a difference, but actually show up and DO the work! 💕

When I asked my girl, Meredith McKinney, to come speak to my students about #TheBlackBookProject, she didn’t hesitate. No long explanation needed. No convincing necessary. Just a shared understanding that our children deserve access to people, perspectives, and opportunities that expand their world.

I’m so grateful for women who understand that our individual missions may look different, but our purpose is connected. When one of us has an opportunity to pour into the next generation, we all win.

Thank you, Meredith, for showing up, sharing your passion, and reminding our girls of the power of representation and the importance of seeing themselves in the stories they read. ❤️

This is what community looks like. This is what sisterhood looks like. This is how we create impact together.

Yesterday was amazing, and my heart is FULL. 💕

To my contributing authors, I love you. Thank you for saying yes, trusting this vision and sharing pieces of your stories, your lessons and your wisdom with our daughters. To Robin Kimbrough Hayes and Elizabeth Kimbrough, thank you. It was absolutely beautiful to witness the love, respect and admiration you have for one another. To the eMpowerment Inc. Board, THANK YOU. I could not have done this without you. To our sponsors, Providence Title, CareyAnn Cyr of CMG Financial, and Wilson Bank & Trust, thank you for investing in this work and believing in the mission of eMpowerment Inc. And thank you to my friend, Councilwoman Delishia Porterfield for your unwavering support.

And then there was Kourtlyn. 💕 I am incredibly proud of you. Overcoming your fear and allowing your confidence to flourish right before our eyes brought me to tears.

This is the work. This is the why.

Yesterday, we dreamed in color.

Today, we keep building. 💕

There are things we learn with age that we wish someone had told us sooner.

The lessons. The reminders. The encouragement. The words that can change the way a young girl sees herself and the life she believes is possible for her.

That’s the heart behind Letters to Our Daughters.

Eight women came together to leave something meaningful for the girls coming after us — words they can return to when they need reassurance, direction, courage, or simply a reminder of who they are.

This is the kind of book you give to a daughter, granddaughter, niece, goddaughter, mentee… or keep for yourself as a reminder of the woman you’ve become.

This weekend was chosen with intention. 💕✨

Yesterday was National Daughters Day, and tomorrow is International Daughters Day. It feels only fitting that tomorrow, on International Daughters Day, we will gather for the Dream in Color Brunch to celebrate the beautiful, brilliant, bold Black and Brown girls we have the privilege of pouring into.

At eMpowerment Inc., our work has always been about our daughters. We are committed to creating spaces where they are seen, affirmed, challenged, celebrated, and reminded that their voices matter and their dreams are worthy.

That is also why this weekend felt like the perfect time to officially launch Letters to Our Daughters: A Collection of Love, Wisdom and Legacy for the Next Generation. This book is our love letter to the girls coming behind us, filled with the lessons, wisdom, truth, and encouragement we want them to carry as they become the women they were created to be.

Tomorrow, we’ll celebrate the beautiful bond between mothers and daughters, honor the women who intentionally pour into the next generation, introduce our B.O.L.D. Scholars to the community, and recommit ourselves to building a legacy our girls can stand on.

Because their legacy begins with us. 💗

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Dream in Color Brunch tomorrow!
