POSTS STORIES REELS

The woman shrouds herself before leaving the house in a thin veil, silken, translucent, to remind herself of her necessarily mediated relationship to reality. This morning, though, something goes wrong with the pin job and it blows away at the bus stop. by @emptybrackets

She used the paper like a shield, writing on it all her missteps so they might not harm her, but the light saw right through it, exposing her habitual misspellings, her minor jealousies, her most embarrassing jokes. by @emptybrackets

Another beautiful collaboration with a great artist @vonalexeev and microstory by @emptybrackets

They were creatures of form, still finding their function.

Her disease was one of inversion: Desire and sinew, anger and artery rose to shroud her body, while inside, she swelled with cashmere, lace, and a single silver buckle. by @emptybrackets

Texture by @gailblumberg

The day Texture fell from the sky like rain, Purple decided to stay inside, sealing his fate as smooth and untarnished, but also totally predictable.

The best liar in all the land told lies that turned to bees and the bees buzzed so many and so loud that the best liar could no longer hear the world.

7-11 lover by @kathradical
—————————————————
She didn’t realize that falling in love would also mean falling into a life of crime, but here she was holding up her shirt to distract the cashier of another 7-11 while her beloved smuggled Doritos, raspberry Big Gulps, NY Yankees hats, and other minor delights back to the parking lot, just like she had every Sunday for months. by @emptybrackets

The kiss floated away, leaving all the other elements of narrative — character, question, plot, genre, mood, setting — aimless and unhinged.

Oysta by @samt_wasser
—————————————
The oyster did not know if she was flesh or bone, but the running tap reminded her that she was water, too, and like someone who hears a familiar voice across a room, she glistened with recognition. by @emptybrackets

Perfectly wide lattices by @kathradical @kathleen_radigan
——————————————-
The pies were sensitive to certain demeaning language, comments on body type (too lumpy!), and probing questions about romantic prospects, and so we had to wait for Grandma to leave the room before we could remove them from the oven and assure them that they were valuable regardless the width of their lattices. by @emptybrackets
