🏡⚡ 𝗔 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗦 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥! 🐒💙

We’re excited to share another incredible off-grid project, this time at a stunning mansion in Hereford! 😍

This isn’t your average home installation. We’re talking about a large, fully off-grid property, complete with smart home technology and a seriously impressive renewable energy system.

𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲? 👀

🔵 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗣𝗹𝘂𝘀-𝗜𝗜 𝟰𝟴/𝟭𝟱𝟬𝟬𝟬 - Delivering 15kVA of inverter power to support the property’s electrical demands
🔋 𝟲𝟬𝗸𝗪𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗦𝗟𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗧 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 - Providing substantial energy storage, with built-in fire suppression systems for additional protection
☀️ 𝟰𝟲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳-𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀 - Generating renewable electricity to power the home and recharge the batteries
⚡ 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗦 𝟰𝟱𝟬/𝟮𝟬𝟬 & 𝟰𝟱𝟬/𝟭𝟬𝟬 - Managing the solar energy harvested from the roof

📱 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - Combining modern home automation with an advanced off-grid power system

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁? A stunning modern home that operates completely independently of the electricity grid, without compromising on the technology and comforts of everyday living 🏡⚡

Projects like this are exactly why we love what we do at Energy Monkey!

From individual Victron components to large-scale bespoke off-grid systems, we specialise in system design, equipment supply and technical expertise, working alongside installers to bring ambitious projects to life.

💙 𝗪𝗛𝗬 do people build a complete Victron system?

One of the biggest advantages of Victron isn’t just the individual products - it’s how they can work together as one system ⚡

Your inverter/charger, solar controllers, DC-DC chargers, battery monitoring and GX equipment can all form part of a properly designed setup

Add a Cerbo GX into the mix and you can bring much of that information together, with remote monitoring through VRM where supported

Whether it’s a campervan 🚐, boat ⛵, off-grid property 🏡 or a much larger commercial system 🏭, the principle is the same.

𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. 𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

And that’s exactly where we come in 🐒

As an authorised Victron Energy distributor, we don’t just sell the blue boxes - we can help with system specification, diagrams and technical support too

💬 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗽?

Drop your system in the comments - we’d love to see what everyone is running!

🔧⚡ 𝗣𝗔𝗨𝗟 & 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦 - 𝗘𝗣𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗗𝗘 𝟭𝟮

𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗤𝗨𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗦! 💥😂

There’s always that ONE person who believes a bolt isn’t tight enough until their face turns red, their arms start shaking and the spanner starts bending 💪🤣

𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿: “Don’t worry Paul, I’m just giving it one last nip!”
𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹: “ONE LAST NIP?! You’ve been tightening that since Tuesday!” 😳
𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿: “Just making sure it’s secure!”
𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹: “IT’S A BATTERY TERMINAL, NOT A TRACTOR WHEEL!” 🚜😂

And then comes the sound every engineer dreads…

𝗦𝗡𝗔𝗣! 💥

Silence. 😶

𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿: “Erm… Paul?”
𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹: “Please tell me that was your knuckle cracking.”
𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿: “Good news… it’s definitely tight now.”
𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹: “Bad news… you’ve snapped the stud.” 🤦‍♂️
😂😂😂

And just like that, a five-minute job becomes a five-hour problem!

🔩 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱.
🛠️ 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁.
💸 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.
☕ 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱.
😩 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹’𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱.

Here’s the bit that actually matters…

Manufacturers specify torque settings for a reason!

𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲?
You risk poor connections, increased resistance and overheating
𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁?
You risk damaged threads, broken studs and damaged terminals
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗾𝘂𝗲?
That’s what the manufacturer’s specifications are for! ✅

A calibrated torque wrench costs a lot less than replacing damaged equipment

𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹: “Next time, just follow the torque specification.”
𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿: “So… no more giving it an extra quarter turn for luck?”
𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹: “THERE IS NO LUCK SETTING ON A TORQUE WRENCH!” 😭🤣

⚡ Moral of the story: Tight enough is a measurement, not a personality trait!
