Last but not least…. Meet Tomoko Karina playing Debei Kimura, who is also the director and translator of this show!!

Tomoko is based in LA, born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Her theater credits include “Balm in Gilead” and “Blood”, both directed by Obie Award-winning, two-time Golden Globe nominee Robert Allan Ackerman, Chekhov ‘s “Three Sisters” at Theater Project Tokyo, played 2 lead roles at the prestigious Tokyo Metropolitan Art Theater, lead role of Himiko in “Tea” with Hero Theater and many others. TV/ Film credits include “Captain America: Brave New World” (Disney/ Marvel), “Cobra Kai” (Netflix), “Haunting in Silver Falls: Returns” (Netflix) and more. Tomoko is voicing the recurring role in the latest version of a long-be-loved cartoon, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (Nickelodeon). She also featured in several music videos including Shawn Mendes’s “Lost in Japan” and “Woman Woman” by Awolnation.
As a writer/director, Tomoko wrote and directed a short film “Camellia- Kerria- Pink”, which won the Best Foreign Mini Film at BPPI Film Festival and was a semifinalist at Women-Voice-Now Film Festival. The latest short film, “Ain’t It Pretty to Think So“ was selected for the Japan Film Festival LA. Tomoko wrote/ directed “Shizuka” premiered in 2022 and “Castles in the Crimson Flame” in 2024. Both productions earned Best Play, Best Director, Best Performer and Best Costume nomination at Broadway World Regional Award.

- About the Playwright -
Kōhei Tsuka (1948 – 2010)
a Korean Japanese playwright, theater director, novelist and screenwriter. He was one of Japan’s most influential theater figures, has had a major impact on modern theatre since the 1970s. Tsuka’s plays have gained overwhelming popularity, sparked a “Tsuka boom.” At the age of 25, he was the youngest person ever to win the Kishida Kunio Drama Award (for “Atami Murder Case”), Naoki Literary Prize laureate, Winner of Japan Academy Award the Best Screenplay (“Fall Guy”) and the Yomiuri Literature Prize (for the play “Hiryuden ‘90: Autumn of Slaughter”). With his poisonous aggressive dialogues and passionate fast-paced style, he uncovered the emotions swirling within people in weaker positions. Even now, more than a decade after his death, Tsuka’s works are performed every year all over Japan, attracting many actors and audiences.

日本を代表する劇作家、演出家、小説家。韓国国籍。1970年代以降の現代演劇に大きな影響を与え、圧倒的な人気を集め、「つかブーム」を巻き起こした。25 歳にして史上最年少で岸田國士戯曲賞受賞（『熱海殺人事件』）、直木賞受賞、日本アカデミー賞脚本賞受賞（「田田行曲曲」）、読売文学賞受賞（戯曲『飛龍伝’90 殺戮の秋』）。毒針のような台詞とたたみかけるようなスピード感溢れる演出で、弱い立場の人間の中に渦巻く感情をえぐり出した。没後十数年を経た今もなお、つか作品は毎年日本各地で上演され多くの俳優・観客を惹きつけてやまない。

Meet Christian Lowery playing Sadayuki Toda ⭐️⭐️

Christian is originally from Northern California. His acting journey began with an iPhone and a reluctant friend who he started writing comedy sketches with to put on YouTube. Don’t try to look them up please for the love of god don’t look these videos up. He took as many acting classes as he could at Modesto Junior College before moving to LA. This is his second time performing in the Fringe Festival and he’s absolutely ecstatic to be here. by @tomoko_karina

Introducing Thomas McKean playing Kumada ⭐️⭐️
Thomas is excited to be making his Hollywood Fringe Festival debut in Prostitute Investigator. Some favorite roles from his training at Oregon State University include Berenger from Rhinoceros, and Romeo from Romeo and Juliet. When not performing he loves board games and going to the movies. Introducing Quinn Vu playing Kintaro Oyama!!
Quinn is excited to be working with the Ensemble Tenshi Studio on this production. He has studied at the Actor’s Studio of Orange County and has featured in short films, but this play marks his theater debut. Quinn loves the beautiful chaos of this story and digging deeper into the complex motives of his character. When not acting, Quinn works as a sales engineer and also enjoys a good round of golf. by @tomoko_karina
