DAVID J & FRIENDS
Fri 30 Oct · 9.30 PM onwards

Three DJs with shared roots in hip-hop, soul, funk and a love for good records, coming together to share some musical goodness with our Pantja familia and friends.

David J has helped shape Pantja’s sound from day one, keeping things soulful and never confined to one genre. Joining him are P-Double, bringing his hip-hop and R&B influences with a healthy dose of funk and disco, and E-One, one of Indonesia’s legendary turntablists out of Bandung, ready to cut it up behind the decks.

Expect everything from old-school favourites to dance-floor grooves and plenty in between. No strict formula, just good music and good company as we wrap up Pantja’s 7th anniversary celebrations.

In the Indonesian music scene, utilizing vinyl records for sampling—widely known as "crate digging"—is highly prominent in underground hip-hop, electronic, and disco revival subcultures.

DJ Morry is widely recognized as a pioneer who introduced disc jockey culture to Jakarta during the 1970s, making him one of the earliest figures in Indonesian DJ history. Other foundational figures include DJ Krishyan Tanjung, who co-founded the Indonesian Disc Jockey Association (PDJI) in 1984, and Tommy Fans, who became the first Indonesian to compete internationally at the DMC World DJ Championships in London in 1991.

But the real ( documented ) Crate Digging start in the early 90s.

Morgue Vanguard (born June 21, 1974), whose real name is Herry Sutresna (also widely known as Ucok), is an influential Indonesian rapper, songwriter, social activist, and graphic designer from Bandung, West Java. He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of political and underground hip-hop in Indonesia

Morgue Vanguard’s music has always been deeply intertwined with structural social activism. During the twilight of Suharto's New Order regime in the late 1990s, he was active in the People's Democratic Party (PRD). His lyricism is heavily anti-authoritarian, addressing issues like police brutality, marginalization, corporate exploitation, and global imperialism. He is also an author, having published essay collections and books such as Setelah Boombox Usai Menyalak (2016) and Flip Da Skrip (2018)

• Homicide (1994–2007): He rose to prominence as the frontman and lyricist for the legendary Bandung-based hardcore hip-hop group Homicide. The group gained a massive underground following for its radical left-wing politics, aggressive Boom-bap production, and complex multi-syllabic rhyming in Bahasa Indonesia. Albums like Godzkilla Necronometry (2002) and Barisan Nisan (2004) are widely celebrated as historic landmarks in Indonesian hip-hop history.

• Subsequent Projects: Following Homicide's disbandment in 2007, he went on to form and join other notable musical outlets including Trigger Mortis, Bars of Death, and collaborative proj by @eone_cronik

20 lagu. 20 fase. Satu turntable.

Jawara Red bull 3 style championship ini mau berbagi 20 trek favorit sepanjang masanya dalam rubrik playlist kali ini.

Mulai boom bap-nya Nas & Gang Starr, gesekan Madlib & DJ Krush, sampai tunes ajaibnya Nujabes & God is an Astronaut. Kalau jarumnya muter, berarti sejarahnya lagi diputer ulang.

Coba dengerin trek-trek ini top to bottom tanpa diacak dan tanpa skip. Karena setiap urutan, menurut kami adalah cara dia milih kita buat kenal dia lebih dalam.
