Hi 👋, this is us, your local go-to micro-roaster. Just wanted to show you who was... BEHIND THE BEANS. [Pause for laughs]

We're Rob and Nat. When we're not investigating the best tasting ways to get a caffeine buzz, we're probably out exploring, trying good food, vibing with some music, and just figuring out ways to live life easy!

P.S. If you've read this far, go check out our new website ** epcoffeeroasters.com ** (link in bio). Limited quantities of the coffees currently featured, as we're working on giving you the best ones at the best prices 🫡 by @epcoffeeroasters

A local coffee roaster in Jakarta hooked it up with some coffee Arabika Toraja, South Sulawesi beans right as we stepped off the plane! Gotta love that! by @epcoffeeroasters

Café de Olla using Southern Mexican grown coffee, freshly roasted by yours truly! Here’s our recipe for a ✨delicately✨spiced and ✨lightly✨sweetened Mexican “Pot Coffee.”

1. Combine 4 cups (904g) of water, 2oz of Piloncillo (or 3 tbsp dark brown sugar), 1 cinnamon stick, 1 clove, and 1 star anise into an pot and bring to a simmering boil.

2. While that’s going, coarse grind 50g (8-10 tbsp) of a good specialty coffee, like ours, as you would for French press. Once the other ingredients are steeped and fully dissolved, kill the heat and WAIT a minute or so before adding the coffee, as not to scald the good stuff!

3. Add the coffee in, put a lid on it, and brew for about 5 minutes. Then, either filter through a strainer/cheesecloth or transfer to a large French press to separate the chunky bits from this liquid goodness.

Enjoy!

Now, THIS is ELEVATED PERSPECTIVE! THIS is inspiration! THIS makes life's little problems seem so incredibly insignificant. Everyone exists in this frame of view, except the 4 people behind the camera. It's humbling, even to see this in photos. To fathom viewing this perspective in person is mind blowing 🤯. Perspective is what matters and everyone has a different one; no matter if you're a few feet away from each other or on the far side of the moon. Treat everyone the same, because we are no different at the core concept of life. We're these little life-forms crawling around on a water-logged rock that's hurdling through vast emptiness. We're in this together, so... sit back, relax; drink some good coffee; love each other; minimize problems; maximize perspective; celebrate everything; appreciate existence; adapt, adjust, regroup, & refocus priorities often; pay attention & look around; value time...but waste it when you need to; find your balance with past/present/future; get up, get out, go play, and... try to have fun!

Love, Rob & Nat.

Which one are you? by @epcoffeeroasters

Perspective: I like to try to perfect certain things, first, with the most basic techniques possible. That way, when I finally get additional tools/equipment and add techniques to help make something easier or better, I'll see a clear difference in outcome. After adding a simple $9 tool to the arsenal, this espresso shot was miles ahead of the bottomless shots I've been pulling over the last few months.

This is also true with roasting. I started roasting coffee on a skillet, then an 8oz capacity air-roaster, and now a 1kg capacity induction drum roaster. Each version of roasted coffee was significantly better, but I wouldn't trade the process I went through to get where I'm at with coffee roasting now. We'll see where it goes from here!
