What if the land itself could hold you? I feel my ancestors deeply in Peru as my father was from Bolivia.

We are bringing our retreat to the Sacred Valley in Peru— and we knew we needed someone just as rooted in this soil to carry the sound. Bodhi, who has spent time studying in Peru, became the living soundscape of our journey.

Some places choose you. Some sounds call you home. #Peru #SoundHealing #RetreatLife #SacredSound by @erikavangemeren

What happens when we sing kirtan together is beyond words - a mystical entrainment to the hearts of all beings. Something shifts. Something opens. We remember we’re not separate.

Radha is the lover, Krishna is the love. When we sing their names, we taste that divine longing and union.
Grateful for this practice, this community, this sacred sound. Photos and video by @eye_of_laksmi @mpowerwell recycled saris by @shopswaay thank you for teaching me this chant way back when @mantrayoga_with_astrud

Four Dollys walked into the dark part of the year. @abbyjacobyoga @darlenejweiss @jessicamalonemusic

We wandered through autumn fire and gold, past graveyards and haunted houses, meeting Dollys everywhere we went, the whole town calling her name like a spell. A Dolly good time indeed.

I’ve loved Halloween since I was a little girl. Under every wig and rhinestone and mask, we are the same…souls in borrowed costumes, all walking the same road home.

Samhain reminds us the veil is thin and the leaves are letting go. Everything returns to the earth, and none of us know exactly where we’re headed, only that we’re going together.

So be gentle with each other as we descend into the dark. Hold hands at the crossing. 🕯️

Some musicians become the soundtrack of your practice. One of them for me, is Jai Uttal. I’ve been listening since my early days practicing with Janet Stone, and his Gopala lullaby still melts my heart.

On November 7, he’s bringing that magic to Soulspace, our home space. Full circle. I can’t help but feel Maharaji’s hand in this divine meeting. 🙏 @jaiuttal @janetstoneyoga @neemkarolibaba_maharajji @soulspacecollectivegv #bhakti #kirtan #love #devotion by @erikavangemeren

There’s a beautiful story from the Bhagavata Purana called the Rasa Lila. On a radiant autumn full-moon night in Vrindavan, Krishna played his flute, and the gopis left everything behind to dance with him in the forest. As they circled together, Krishna multiplied himself so that every gopi felt he was dancing with her alone. It’s a story about the soul’s longing for the Divine, and the joy of losing yourself in love and devotion.

Watching our kirtan community dance like this, I see a little of that Rasa Lila come alive. It makes my heart sing, because dance was my first love. It’s the Old School rave.

I posted this yesterday but in case you didn’t see it—Aminah Chishti Adam Bauer Video by @eye_of_laksmi of_laksmi Laksmi Greenberg @dhammamama @iamadambauer #kirtan #rasalila #radhe #love #devotion by @erikavangemeren

What a night. Adam Bauer came through and we played with Aminah under the Rasa Lila full moon. At one point we watched the moon rise right over the skylight, and it was quite magick.

Maharaj-ji keeps leading me to these kirtan wallahs, in restaurants of all places. It makes perfect sense. Neem Karoli Baba was all about feeding people, and somehow the food and the chanting always end up in the same room.

Grateful for every one of you. Grateful for @harmonyhouse.nc for making our new Shala space in town. Ram Ram.

It’s Navaratri. I didn’t plan it this way, but Devi always does. 🌹

Today we begin our Fall Temple Cleanse. And we begin it with Kali and Durga, the fierce mothers. Their sword is the sword of discernment. They help us cut away what is excess: the heaviness we’ve been carrying, the habits that no longer serve us, the noise that keeps us from hearing ourselves.

That’s what cleansing really is. It’s not about taking things away from ourselves. It’s about making room so something new can bloom.

And tomorrow, we begin the Yoga Gospel. There are still a few spots left, so if your heart is curious, there’s a place here for you. Check the link in my bio.

As the veil grows thin this Samhain season, join us for an evening of stillness, healing, and sound.

On October 24 at Soulspace, I’ll guide you through a Mystic Yin practice with Reiki offered throughout, while Bodhi plays live music to hold the space. We’ll close in a deep, immersive soundbath.

Bodhi has studied his craft extensively in Peru’s Sacred Valley, so this evening is also a sneak preview of our upcoming journey there together. Come feel the medicine of the Andes before we go. With @bodhistarwater @abbyjacobyoga
