This was a fun photo shoot with @luciacarbines Lucia Carbines on the North Shore of Oahu. She is an incredibly talented acrobatic performance artist. The weather was working against us on this day, but we had a few clear openings to capture a few images. Photos (c) @erikkabik - You can see her perform in Las Vegas in the show Absinthe. *“She contorts her spine in ways unknown to mere mortals. Is this beauty an apparition? A goddess? No, but close. She is Lucia Carbines”— Alisha Smith, OH magazine, AUS . . #contortionist #contortion #acrobat #acrobatic #portrait #portraitsphotography #hawaii #northshoreoahu #northshore #hawaii #hawaiiphotographer #luciacarbines #hawaiiportraitphotographer by @erikkabik

🦁🪓🌳 “Why boasteth thyself Oh, evil men Playing smart And not being clever? Oh no I said, you’re working iniquity To achieve vanity, yeah (if a-so a-so) But the goodness of Jah, Jah I-dureth forever If you are the big tree We are the small axe Sharpened to cut you down (well sharp) Ready to cut you down These are the words Of my master, keep on tellin’ me No weak heart Shall prosper, oh no they can’t! And whosoever diggeth a pit, Lord Shall fall in it, shall fall in it Whosoever diggeth a pit Shall bury in it, shall bury in it If you are the big tree We are the small axe Sharpened to cut you down Ready to cut you down And whosoever diggeth a pit Shall fall in it, fall in it And whosoever diggeth a pit Shall bury in it, shall bury in it If you are the big, big tree We have a small axe Ready to cut you down (well sharp) Sharpened to cut you down If you are the big tree, let me tell you this We are the small axe Ready to cut you down (well sharp) Sharpened to cut you down If you are the big tree We are the small axe” @bunnywailerarchives Image (c) @erikkabik #bunnywailer #reggae #reggaemusic #livemusicphotography #htbarp by @erikkabik

✡️✊🏼“Well the oppressors are trying to keep me down Trying to drive me underground And they think that they have got the battle won I say FORGIVE them Lord They know not what they’ve done ‘Cause as sure as the sun will shine I’m gonna get my share now of what’s mine And then the harder they come The harder they’ll fall, one and all And I keep on fighting for the things I want Though I know that when you’re dead you can’t But I’d rather be a free man in my grave Than living as a puppet or a slave So as sure as the sun will shine I’m gonna get my share now of what’s mine And then the harder they come The harder they’ll fall, one and all Ooh the harder they come The harder they’ll fall, one and all!” - Jimmy Cliff @jimmycliff ( photo (c) @erikkabik ) #jimmycliff #reggae #reggaemusic #livemusicphotography #rocktographers by @erikkabik
A look back at the first volcanic eruption I covered in 2018. This led to my interest in volcanoes. Fissure 8, on the Big Island of Hawai’i, was very destructive and powerful as seen here. It was not contained in the crater at Kilauea like the latest series of eruptions and leveled many homes displacing families and long time residents of the area. Images (c) @erikkabik • Fissure 8 — Kīlauea, 2018 🌋 • During Kīlauea’s dramatic 2018 Lower East Rift Zone eruption, Fissure 8 emerged in Leilani Estates on May 5 and quickly became the eruption’s dominant and most powerful vent. • A massive, fast-moving river of lava flowed roughly 13 kilometers (8 miles) to the ocean at Kapoho Bay, dramatically reshaping the landscape along the way. • The eruption built a towering cinder cone more than 100 feet high around the vent, later officially named Ahuʻailāʻau—a permanent reminder of one of Kīlauea’s most extraordinary modern eruptions. • #volcano #volcanes #hawaiivolcanoes #lava volcanicerupt by @erikkabik

THANK YOU CODY AND THANK YOU PHIL • Lesh had first-hand knowledge of the benefits of organ donation. After years of living with Hepatitis C, he underwent liver transplant surgery in December 1998. Lesh, 62, received the liver of a man named Cody during a roughly four-hour operation at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. He knew little about Cody — only that he was a young man who died in some sort of automobile or bicycle accident — but the bassist said he prayed for him every night. • We had almost 25 more years of Phil Lesh on earth and got to enjoy his life and his music thanks to Cody’s organ donation! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 #organdonation #organdonor #organdonationawareness #phillesh by @erikkabik
