Born in London and raised in France, musician and writer Piers Faccini met Ballaké Sissoko in the early 2000s through the record label Leu Bleu. Ballaké is from Mali and plays the kora, a 21-stringed harp-like instrument from West Africa. The pair recorded their collaborative album Our Calling live to tape over the course of five days in Paris. taken in L'Olympia by @foxandbison

Anatomy of a Command Post

Scout location overlooking a desert dam
Plan critical defense points
Build structures from available rock and corrugated
Fill 600 sandbags
Hard working crew pause in blistering heat
Film with an incredible cast and crew
Bring an incredible true story to life

It's rare a location offers everything needed for a film shoot. Here at the Al Kafrein Dam in Jordan we had the good fortune of a location that provided fantastic sets within proximity befitting the narrative of the story. The command posts Normandy & Athens both had to overlook the dam and the former the latter, which meant lots of hard graft in constructing and hauling materials often by mule.

A special thanks to Paul Katis, Andrew Lotbiniere, Gareth Ellis Unwin, Alec MacKenzie, the Jordan film Commision and a huge thanks to the whole team, writer Tom Wiliams, DoP Chris Goodger and especially @nasser_zoubi @karimomarkheir and the amazing Jordanian Art Dept. The greatest gratitude is to the men who served at Kajaki and may they always be remembered.

KAJAKI / KILO TWO BRAVO
Anatomy of a Wadi

Find a dry riverbed location
Map it to the action in the script
Employ top local talent
Move 25 tons of earth
Sculpt with 10000L of water
Dress with action critical rocks
Film in 55C heat
Bring an incredible true story to life

It's rare a location offers everything needed for a film shoot. Here at the Al Kafrein Dam in Jordan we had a mammoth task in a tight time frame to widen this narrow riverbed into a film friendly wadi to hold up to 40 crew at a time in terrific heat for 360 filming.

A special thanks to Paul Katis, Andrew Lotbiniere, Gareth Ellis Unwin, Alec MacKenzie, the Jordan film Commision and a huge thanks to the whole team, writer Tom Wiliams, DoP Chris Goodger and especially @nasser_zoubi @karimomarkheir and the amazing Jordanian Art Dept.
