Almost a month ago, erwstories had the privilege of being commissioned by the National Trust at Rainham Hall to interview and capture the stories, memories and histories of the Rainham community as part of their wider Story Exhibition project. 🎙️ We spent the day listening to local voices and uncovering the personal connections that make a place feel like home; stories spanning generations, memories of Rainham past and reflections on the community today. We love a multigenerational storytelling project. 🥹 A huge thank you to the National Trust and, most importantly, to everyone who took the time to sit with us, remember, reflect and share. We can’t wait to see your stories exhibited ❤️ Supported by Havering London Image credit; Essex Cultural Diversity Project; Jude Merrit @estherrennae by @erwstories_
We piloted Our Story, Our Superpower, a five-week community wellbeing programme designed to encourage connection, confidence, and creative power through storytelling. The first cohort was an intergenerational group of strangers, commissioned by Havering Changing last summer. Our thoughts then moved towards the young people/adults, who are statistically the loneliest group in the UK. How can Our Story, Our Superpower respond to the loneliness epidemic amongst young people? 🤔 We had the opportunity to deliver a taster session at @weare_spotlight to a curious group of teens - who exist in the margins and who need a sense of belonging more than ever With cuts to safe third spaces, an under-resourced NHS mental health service, and rising youth isolation, initiatives like Our Story, Our Superpower can play a vital role in a wider support system for young people 📮If you’re interested in having a taster session with your group of young people - do email us at erwstories@outlook.com by @erwstories_
erwstories had the pleasure of hosting an intensive Storytelling for Screen workshop as part of The Awareness Tap G.I.F.T.E.D Programme - an initiative focused on nurturing young creatives and equipping them with industry-relevant skills. Through games, discussion, and practical exercises, we explored the stages of transforming an ordinary idea into a compelling visual narrative. ✨concept ✨world-building ✨character development ✨story arc ✨sensory world ✨mood ✨design We explored how great films begin with an honest, distinct story not necessarily big budgets or high-end equipment. “Great storytelling goes hand in hand with skillful filmmaking. Don’t neglect the former.” If you’re looking to host a storytelling workshop or storytelling programme — from technical, to holistic, we’re open to designing and delivering bespoke workshops! We also offer a range of highly-esteemed workshops delivered across different teams and community groups 📮 erwstories@outlook.com 💐Special discount for women-led and women-centred community organisations for the month of March in celebration of #womenhistorymonth and #internationalwomensday by @erwstories_
