Our album “The New Day Bends Light” is now available for pre-order on Bandcamp! This album was truly a labor of love that was baked slowly over time, and created by some of the most talented people we know. We will be releasing it March 31st, but if you order the album (digital or physical), you will instantly get the first track, “Reel”, which is by far the lightest (emotionally) and most straight-ahead track on the album. You can also follow our band there for more updates on future releases! #bandcamp #newmusic #ericaseguineshonbakerorchestra #thenewdaybendslight #bigband #jazzorchestra #essbo #essbjo by @essbjo

Thank you to everyone who came to hear us at @lunarfaire two nights ago! And thank you band for such a wonderful time! First, a short video snagged from @shneiertim of @huevos_rancheric and @megokura shredding over Reel, then an obligatory band photo in front of the infamous Lunar Faire sign, and then a beautiful orange adventurine/jasper/garnet wand gifted by @edwardfausty . Hope to bring more music to all of you in the near future. #bigband #bigbandjazz #darkjazz #seguinebakerorchestra #essbo #essbjo #megokura #ericburns #lunarfaire by @essbjo

We are excited to finally announce (after keeping this under wraps for several months) that our next jazz orchestra performance will be at the whimsical @lunarfaire festival and night market on Wednesday, July 13th, from 5pm-10pm. The location? The long abandoned (closed since 1976; neither of the orchestra leaders were ever alive during its existence) Jungle Habitat in West Milford, NJ (109 Airport Rd). Who knows? Maybe a ghost of one of the lions will join us for a number. We are extremely stoked to be part of this awesome night that is part witchy, part weird, all wonderful. 20 musicians, all original compositions. #lunarfaire #lunarfairenj #essbo #essbjo #jazzorchestra #bigband #jazzcomposer #seguinebakerorchestra #ericaseguine #shonbaker #junglehabitat #weirdnj by @essbjo

Introducing the WIJO Mentors Big Band! So proud to have been part of this lovely project. 45 musicians coming “alone together” (pardon the pun) to create something much bigger than any of us could do alone. The @wearewijo mentors program is run by @roxycoss and @empecmusic and pairs women and non-binary college jazz musicians with a professional woman or non-binary musician for a year. The partnership includes lessons and meetings and challenges unique to being a woman or gender non-conforming are often discussed. Applications are now open for next year (check out @wearewijo ‘s page for more info).

Click on @wearewijo to see the entire video or the link in my bio! Special thanks to @yunishiyama for co-writing the arrangement with me and @taliarmusic for the beautiful video and audio! And thank you to the 44 other beautiful musicians involved in this performance!
