We are farmers because we love the land, we love our animals and we love good food.

We raise all our animals on pasture and manage them regeneratively which improves fertility and soil health for generations to come.

Flowers around the farm 🌸 by @ethicalfarmers

We’ve been pretty quiet over here on our side of the internet.

Since having our baby in June last year, so much of my focus has naturally turned inward, towards our family, our farm, and what we want this next chapter of Ethical Farmers to look like.

For the last few years, so much of our energy has been focused on moving forward. Growing the business, producing more, selling more, and trying to make all the pieces work.

This winter, we shifted away from business as usual. We stepped away from online retail and slowed down our sales, choosing to supply only our committed members in a way that better reflects where the farm — and our family — are right now.

It gave us space to slow down, recalibrate, and put our energy back into dreaming, resting and refining our plans.

And in many ways, the farm has been doing the same.

We’ve spent winter putting a huge amount of work back into the land — resting paddocks, building fertility, planting diverse pastures, and creating the conditions for the soil and plants to regenerate.

Now, as the cattle move onto fresh spring pasture, that work is starting to become visible.

It’s made me think about how much of the important work in life happens when it looks like nothing is happening at all.

A paddock needs rest before it can grow again. And sometimes we do too.

Rest isn’t the opposite of productivity. Done intentionally, it’s a critical part of it.

There’s a season for pushing forward and a season for pulling back — nourishing what matters and allowing things to rebuild.

This has been a season of rest, nourishment and family for us.

And it feels really good to see both the farm and our family moving into a new season. 🌸 by @ethicalfarmers
