Sake is not rice wine. it's 2,000 years of spit, mold and monk-level patience 🍶

Swipe for the origin story.

bonus fact: sake is brewed like beer, and it's the only major drink where the sugar is made and eaten in the same tank at the same time.

Now settle this in the comments: hot sake or cold sake? there is a wrong answer and i will be judging 👇

Tag the friend who orders sake like they know things.

Singapore just got its coolest new monthly ritual. Save this 📌

Jack's Club at The St. Regis launched last night.
It's the newly renovated St. Regis Bar (bye Astor Bar, hello something so much better). Every last Friday of the month, the space transforms into a Prohibition-era jazz supper club. Red velvet booths, a live jazz singer performing above your table, Old Hollywood glamour all night... and a DJ takeover from 11pm.

The cocktails are all $28-30 and genuinely excellent. I loved the Princess Cut (Planteray Rum, egg white, Ruinart Champagne) and the Ash and Oak which scratches that old fashioned itch perfectly. If you're a gin person, the Merlion Sling is a little love letter to Singapore.

On the food side, do not sleep on the potato churros. The sliders were great, the Reuben was a hit at our table, and the oysters with caviar were being ordered by basically every table around us. The chilli crab mantou is very cute and very SG.

Next one is the last Friday of June. Tag who you're bringing 👇

A Feast with Hanwoo, the main event on the GU:UM Samg set lunch menu at GU:UM, locatd in Keong Siak Sreet.
The Yukhwae Jeon, the impossibly marbled Hanwoo 1++ lower loin, the Jeju pork collar, heritage pork from Jeju Island's famed black pigs, the Dalkochi grilled chicken skewers (this was grilled chicken on an entirely different level), and tiger prawns are all grilled to perfection.
Quite possibly the best set lunch in Singapore. by @expatchoice

An excellent lunch at @stagsheadsteakhouse as part of @diningcitysingapore Restaurant Week. Stately interiors, excellence in the kitchen and an outstanding pastry chef - this is one restaurant I want to see succeed in this competitive market. The service is warm, professional and leaves no stone unturned to ensure you have a fabulous meal. My second time here, after I reviewed them for @expatchoice , and I’m happy to say, an equally wonderful dining experience the second time around.

Rating: 4 on 5
Must try: Rainbow Trout & Sticky Toffee Pudding from the Restaurant Week Menu or the Beetroot Carpaccio and Striploin from the regular menu.
Go for: Business lunch/dinner; date night; special celebration

United in harmony. More alert at dawn than dusk this reflects kindness without limits in a crowded marketplace I spotted them from afar did they catch my eye or did I stroll over unsure how this scene unfolded now forever imprinted in my thoughts. #bangkokstuff @expatchoice by @expatchoice

🇸🇬 CENDRA 🇸🇬

Did not intentionally dress to match the decor 🤪. What a Spanish feast @cendra.sg! Truly a taste of Spain in the heart of the city - another fab find on Gemmil Lane 🍷🇪🇸.

From the moment we stepped in, the vibes were casual yet refined, perfect for a date night or a long evening with friends.

🦪 Tapas kicked things off in style — impossibly creamy oysters with a hint of gin foam, generous piles of top-tier Iberico ham and the smoked mackerel Ensaladilla Rusa that was simply delicious.

🔥 Croquetas with that perfect crunch, roasted leek with romesco & hazelnuts, and the Spanish octopus with Iberico chorizo foam — tender, flavourful and honestly one of the best octopus dishes I’ve tried (am not a big octopus fan either).

🍚 For mains, the Pork Butifarra Rice “a la Llauna” was epic — we scraped the plate clean — and the grilled Wagyu Striploin hit every mark with rich char and flavour. Perfectly paired with those juicy “La Catedral” piquillo peppers.

🍫 Finished with an impressive Chocolate Soufflé & Stracciatella Ice Cream that was the perfect sweet finale.

Cendra are truly authentic Spanish flavours and heart to every dish.

🇸🇬 GIBSON BAR 10 YEARS 🇸🇬

Finally managed to take Robin to Gibson Bar on Bukit Pasoh and honestly, I get why this place has been around for 10 years (indeed a feat in Singapore’s bar scene!). It’s tucked away on the second floor of this gorgeous 1930s shophouse with subtle Art Deco vibes – felt like stepping into someone’s chic living room.

We tried their 10 year anniversary menu and some of the drinks were so unexpected:
🍸 The martini came with FRIES (weirdly perfect combo?)
🍸 Maharaja’s Mule – tequila with ginger beer and this hop situation that was chef’s kiss
🍸 My favourite was the Amaretto Sour with black glutinous rice in it?! Somehow it worked and tasted like a fancy Southeast Asian dessert

The whole vibe was relaxed but elevated. Not pretentious at all. Perfect spot for a night out when you want great drinks without the scene.

🇸🇬 ONE PRAWN, NEW BAHRU 🇸🇬

One Prawn in New Bahru, possibly the best value in SG and an unexpected delight. 8 courses for $100++ that actually delivered on flavour AND vibes.

The 16-day dry-aged kingfish? Silky perfection. The octopus with assam pedas hummus? Didn’t know I needed this in my life. And those tiger prawns with sakura were hands down one of the most beautiful prawn dishes I’ve ever had.

Watching everything come together over the wood fire just added to the magic.

Perched above the Singapore neighbourhood of Novena is the Las Palmas skybar on level 33 of the Courtyard Marriott hotel.
You should go!
Here, you get to pair dazzling sunsets with the newly introduced cocktail menu, crafted by the creative in-house bar team, led by head bartender Ron Aransay.
Inspired by the spirit of Palm Springs, California, the new cocktail menu blends post-modern design, 1060s glamour and sun-soaked desert vibes. Palm Springs is iconic for its mid-century modern architecture and design heritage.
Introducing, The Don, which hauls you back into the 1960s with Mad Men ‘s John Draper. This smooth, strong and sophisticated cocktail blends Planteray Dark Rum infused with Cacao, Coffee Liquer, Panda and Cardamom Bitters. I liked this one a lot!

🇹🇭 SO SOFITEL HUA HIN 🇹🇭
Incredible adults only weekend at this hidden gem of a resort in Hua Hin (south of Bangkok).

Insane amount of fun for kids with the water bubble, Wibit adventure float, underwater scooters, electric water guns, hot wheels and minigolf! Plus fab activities for the adults including yoga, pickleball and tennis.

The spa is one of the most divine ones we have tried complete with adults only pool.

Our room was spacious and gorgeous, with a patio leading to the pool.

Food options were excellent from traditional Thai to western favourites - even a spot on the beach to eat with your feet in the sand.

🇸🇬 MAGPIE 🇸🇬

@magpiesingapore - one of our fave new restaurants in Singapore (we visited back in Feb when they first opened).

The cuisine is “borderless” soul food so like a magpie picks up a collection of shiny objects, it’s a collection of NZ 🇳🇿 chef @thomasiseliot fave dishes from across the world.

The menu changes daily depending on what is available at the markets so it’s fresher than fresh!

Located in Tanjong Pagar, it has an open kitchen with plenty of alfresco tables as well as a cute private dining space.
