POSTS STORIES REELS

I had the chance to take part in the Erasmus+ project “Unleashing Creativity: From Lens to Life”, surrounded by people from different countries, each with their own backgrounds, cultures and perspectives. Wonderful encounters, lots of curiosity, kindness and a great collective energy.

The programme included daily exercises to explore our creativity, look at the world around us from a different perspective and step out of our comfort zones. All of this took place in a beautiful setting, with a forest just nearby to get some fresh air. We ended the week with an exhibition of our photographs in the village.

A big thank you to @ganinaylor and @experiencelearningwithromy for guiding us throughout this experience, and to Deniz and Rick from @areaaa_luxembourg for making this project possible.

I'm leaving with great memories, new inspiration and, above all, an even stronger desire to share my passion through workshops, with younger and older generations alike 📸

Thank you all for these unforgettable 10 days!

📸✨ Unleashing Creativity: From Lens to Life!

We kicked off our creative exploration by diving into two European Youth Goals: #6 Moving Rural Youth Forward and #10 Sustainable Green Europe. 🌱

Through a “Curiosity Walk” we explored our surroundings, captured photographs inspired by these themes, and discovered new ways to express our creativity through a different lens.

Then came the moment to share! We gathered to see each other’s photographs, exchange perspectives, and witness how differently we all interpreted the same themes. 📷

Taking our creativity one step further, we experimented with collage, combining different materials and visual elements onto playing cards to create our very own power cards! 🃏🎨

And throughout it all, we continued collecting materials for our final-day exhibition!

👀 Our exhibition reveal is just two posts away! Stay tuned to see how everything comes together!

What happens when we pause, look inward, and give our imagination the space to speak? 🌱

We started the day with a silent guided meditation, then explored what creativity really means, discovering insights from neuroscience on how we can unlock our creative potential.

Through a guided inner journey, participants met the “monsters” standing in the way of their creative expression and brought them to life through visual art. 👾

We then turned personal reflections into collective creations. From free writing and metaphors to collaborative poetry, music, visuals, and performances, everyone found their own way to express what creativity means to them. 🎭🎶

And of course, the creativity didn’t stop when the sessions ended… @lateniteart facilitated by @ganinaylor and @experiencelearningwithromy brought us together to keep experimenting, creating, and sharing. 🌙🖌️

One day, countless perspectives, and so many ways to unleash creativity! 💫

My younger self wouldn’t believe it, but this week I voluntarily went to summer camp! Not just any camp, but @schooloffacilitation ’s #SOFest2025 - a retreat for facilitators, coaches, and trainers focused on personal, professional, and business growth.

I was honored to deliver the opening keynote on a topic close to my heart: 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠.

👉 We explored the neuroscience of “sticky” learning and why 𝐩𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐳𝐳𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 - 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲. In a longer experiential workshop, we mapped the emotional journey of participants along our learning experience journeys. And spoke about why we should do the same for ourselves as facilitators!

What made SOFest truly special is that we didn’t just talk about these principles - we 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 them. We laughed until our cheeks hurt (thank you, British humor!), cried vulnerably, held space for each other’s brilliance and struggles, found calm in nature, and even created harmony through song. It was a generous, deeply human week of collaborative learning.

I didn’t expect this kind of environment, but it gave me exactly what I didn’t know I needed this week. And it reminded me again why I love to help organizations build psychologically safe workplace cultures. Not because it just feels good, but because it works!

As neuroscientist Antonio Damasio said, “𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥, 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤.” High-performance cultures aren’t built by bypassing emotions; they’re built by learning to work with them.

The most effective leaders know how to engage emotions skillfully at work and not suppress them. They weave #emotionalintelligence and #psychologicalsafety into the fabric of their culture to drive sustainable high performance.

🥳 Congrats to Kirsty and ALL who made #sofest2025 happen! Thanks to every attendee for making this such a rich and impactful experience. 🙏

Sometimes the charm AND the challenge of Experiential Learning is that people need to experience it to fully understand it.

When @mehdi_ennaizi asked me to join him on his podcast to talk about Experiential Learning - the first thing I thought was 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘰?

Well, I am excited to share we did a little experimental experience with a new form of a podcast! Hopefully it works for you, whether you are at home listening in with some pen and paper and markers - or even walking on the go!

I am always a fan of META learning and embodying the learning while we are talking about the learning. Hopefully you can spot the 4 modes of the Experiential Learning Cycle we talk about inside the podcast episode:

🫀 Experiencing
👀 Reflecting
🧠 Thinking
🤲 Acting

Now I would love to hear from you - even more than the content of this episode - how did you find the process and HOW we decided to share about the topic?

We have officially entered into a new era of leadership.... 🥁 #facilitativeleadership! 🙌

By now most people understand why #coaching is an essential leadership skill AND FINALLY #facilitation is having its moment too! 🥳

💡 According to Forbes, 88% of C-suite leaders say they are experiencing a record rate of change that they only expect to increase this year. "During these times of change, organizations need leaders who can help guide their people to work collaboratively toward shared goals." (👀 see article Facilitative Leadership: Navigating Times of Change and Disruption)

💪 FACILITATION is all about unlocking the potential of people by empowering them to do and be at their best. It's about finding the balance between achieving a specific GOAL, while also ensuring a seamless PROCESS to get there. 🎯

🌰 This is why I so often come back to THE WALNUT MODEL as an essential facilitative leadership framework. 🌰 I can think of no better #TrainerToolTuesday for #FacilitationWeek because it perfectly exemplifies why more leaders need to develop their facilitation skills (not just L&D peeps!)

⚖️ The Walnut Model focuses on the balance between the WHAT and the HOW people work together. It's also referred to as the Content & Process Model by @hyperisland ⚖️

👉 Generally when any project or team event kicks off, we dive headfirst into the 🎯 outcomes / content / or WHAT we want to do without taking enough time (or emphasizing first and foremost) the 🤝 process / group focus / or HOW we will get there. 🤦‍♀️ Unfortunately, when leaders do this, they often end up needing to spend an exorbitant amount of time, effort, and energy later dealing with personal relationships and damage control. 😤😖😩

Facilitative Leaders always remember both sides of the walnut model and start with the process.

👆Dare I say it?! Facilitation is the new coaching in the #leadership space. And I wholeheartedly believe it is here to stay! 💥

🎉 #FacilitationWeek is here! 🥳

🦵To kick off this special week it's probably best to share a definition of what a facilitator actually is! 🤷‍♀️ There are a lot of misconceptions about what the differences are between a #trainer or a #facilitator and I always go back to this model from #ExperientialLearning Theory. 🎯

🌀 To facilitate actually comes from the Latin root word, "facilis" which means to make an action or process easier. 💡

To me, an #experientialtrainer holistically embodies all 4 roles:
👉 Facilitator
👉 Subject Matter Expert
👉 Evaluator
👉 Coach

⚖️ However, if we focus on the role of a #facilitator it’s really about balancing the key focus areas of the learner and meaning-making to help each person get in touch with their personal #experience and #reflect on it. ⚖️

Facilitators can do this by:
🌟 Cultivating a psychologically safe space for learners to talk about their thoughts and feelings
🌟 Drawing out learner’s intrinsic motivation, interests, and self knowledge
🌟 Then encouraging them to pursue the development of their interests
🌟 Empowering learners to develop a life-long love of learning
🌟 Hosting the space for all kinds of dialogues
🌟 Embodying a warm affirming style
🌟 Creating personal relationships
🌟 Fostering “Inside-out” learning
🌟 and much more!

🤔When was the last time you created your own museum?

👉 For today’s #TrainerToolTuesday I want to share what I did with @opheliedbm for the Storytelling Training with the wonderful @_dubai.design_ team!

🏫 We opened Dubai’s first Storytelling Arc Museum as a way to dive deeper into storytelling frameworks to structure presentations. 📈

💡You know what we realized? It’s a great method for ANY content-heavy component of a training!

🥱 Rather than death by PowerPoint to walk participants through the different frameworks, here’s what we did instead:

🎟️ Handed out museum tickets and opened the museum
💭 Asked participants to enter and check out the exhibit on their own to grasp the information
👩🏻‍🏫 Then led a guided group tour around the museum to check for understanding, leverage examples, and more!

We had a lot of fun creating this experience around the storyline of a museum opening and I’m already thinking about what other museum pop-ups might show up in future trainings!

#FacilitationFriday

We tend to give it our all in #facilitation. And we also know we need time to #reflect after any event - it’s ALL part of the process of #experientiallearning! 💪

What #experiences do you have planned for yourself this weekend? And what will you do to #recharge and #restore?

💬 Let me know in the comments! 👇

I’m currently in Dubai and after an intense week of work and before I kick off a #storytelling training on Monday, I’m planning experiences to go to the desert, reconnect with colleagues, and see some art at Dubai Design week!
