POSTS STORIES REELS
Last night Post 475 started our meeting learning about solar shingles. After a quick presentation, we then drilled on search and rescue with with a focus on orientation while trying to find various objects that were placed in the room. Post members worked together in complete darkness communicating and describing any objects they encountered while completing their searches. Advisors O’Connor, Centanni and Chen led last nights training. 🚒🧑🏻‍🚒 #srlfdpost475 #shakerroadfire by @explorerpost475

Wow! What an honor it was for the members, advisors, and family of Explorer Post 475 celebrating their 50th Anniversary with you. Saturday night at the Desmond was such a night to remember for our explorers and guests Our post received several legislative recognitions from New York State, Albany County, The Town of Colonie. The plaque given to the post from the members of the Shaker Road Road Loudonville FD was greatly appreciated. Throughout the nights ceremony, we covered the history of the post from 1975 to 2025 through the stories and memories through stories told by our past advisors, post members and current advisors and post members. We honored two of our founding advisors that were in attendance, Bud Burton and Paul Reed. We also recognized Jim Benedetto and Fred Wood that were not with us anymore. Our special guest Chief Tiger Schmittendorf from Erie County spoke about his career and how it started as a junior firefighter. Our night was a success because of the 50th year committees commitment and hard work in planning this event. “GREAT JOB” The result of the committee’s work resulted in a beautiful venue, well designed table/room decorations, great food, and an organized program that flowed throughout the night. Post 475 thanks all of our sponsors that donated, all of our special guests, our past post members and advisors, and the Fire Department membership. Post 475 has not made this milestone of 50 years and one of our nations oldest fire department Explorers Posts without the support and dedication of the fd membership. Thank you all for making this a memorable event that will be remembered fondly for many years to come. Sincerely, Explorer Post 475 #shakerroadfire #shakerroadfiredepartment #post475 #townofcolonieemergencyservices #townofcolonie by @explorerpost475

We even swore in two current explorers, Schuyler Riedell and Reagan Carlson into the Fire Department as Restricted (Junior) Members! Thanks to everyone who came out.
