These are the girls who are changing my life!

When I enrolled in Assistant University last year, I’ll be honest—I did it for selfish reasons. I was burning out behind the chair and desperately needed help. What I didn’t expect was to receive so much more than just help.

Hannah was my very first assistant, and she knew from the start that she was my guinea pig. Without a doubt, God brought me Hannah. Her eagerness to learn and bubbly personality fit me and my clients like a glove. The cherry on top? She picked up everything so quickly and remained incredibly coachable and teachable. Hannah is now ready to thrive on her own behind the chair, and there’s nothing I wouldn’t trust her to do. I know her chair will become her ministry because she truly is a light! I love this girl so much!

Then came Ashley. She had some big shoes to fill, but as a true Enneagram 3, she dove in headfirst without hesitation. I’m constantly in awe of how fast she learns and the thoughtful questions she asks. She truly cares about people and has a servant heart. I cannot wait to watch her grow and see the beautiful work she creates. Her eye for detail is going to set her apart in this industry.

I feel so honored to be training these two amazing women. (And no—it’s not a requirement to be model-level gorgeous to be my assistant, but somehow I lucked out with both!) I thank God for them every single day.

Big shoutout to @lisadphoto.ohio
for these amazing pictures!

I've been flying under the radar over here for long enough. When I go to someone's Instagram page, I want to see what they look like, but I don't want to show my face on my own! 😜

For those who don't know me, Hi!! I'm Mashawn!

I co-own Bangs Salon and Spa in Centerville, Ohio, with the amazing @jesshallock .I work alongside 35 of the most talented independent contractors in our area, and I truly and deeply love every single one of them! Getting to do life with them as well as grow in the industry beside them is one of the greatest honors I'll ever have.

I've been behind the chair for 21 years and have some of the most tried and true, loyal clients who have become like family. I specialize in hand-tied extensions and LOVE education and growing in knowledge and technique. My clientele has taken a bit of a shift the last 5 years after diving into hand-tied extensions, and I'm loving where this avenue is taking me.

On a personal level, my faith is what I hope most people know me by. Religion is not my jam, but Jesus is. I co-founded @stripchurchdayton, and this ministry is my heart and soul. I'm so grateful and humbled to be able to be used this way and genuinely love our "gems."" The team of women who are a part of the ministry are freaking FIRE, and they ignite my flame every time I'm around them. 🔥🔥🔥

Enneagram 7 and all that comes with it! I love talking and people! I do recharge introvertedly, but it doesn't take long, and then I'm good to go. Scattered is my name, and "post-its" are my game.

I'm still in love with my husband Cameron after almost 20 years of marriage. He does killer construction and remodeling work! @rigmaidenhomeandbusiness My daughter Raegan is the greatest gift in my life. Yah'll and boy, can she sing..@raegan_sings607

ANIMALS!!!!!!! Cats, dogs, donkeys.....send me all the IG reels, please! I'm a little unapologetically over the top with it. And don't get me started on Stella @stellathedog_607, my Cavalier King Charles. She's not a dog. She's human. I don't care what anyone says.

That's more than anyone needs to know about me, but I'm always an open book. Too open many times! ❤️ Mashawn by @extensionsbymashawn

The perfect ONE ROW!!

I like to call it the push-up bra for your hair! 😂 Just the right amount of fullness, volume, and a little extra length!

This beauty has been rocking a deep ruby red over her dark hair for a while, but today we decided to switch things up! We wanted to keep those gorgeous warm tones while softening some of the red.

We customized her color with balayage, followed by a toner to neutralize some of that red while keeping everything rich, warm, and dimensional.

Then we added her ONE ROW back in, and the result? PERFECTION!

Sometimes one row just isn't enough when you're wanting volume AND length!

For this beauty, we took her from one row to two rows to give her more length and a little extra volume!

We got creative and deconstructed her existing row and combined that hair with new extension hair to create a completely customized two-row install.

We also refreshed her color by adding depth back in and neutralizing unwanted gold tones for a softer, more dimensional finish.

And of course, we finished with a custom extension cut to make sure everything blended seamlessly!

More length. More fullness. Beautiful dimension. All customized just for her. ✨

A little copper refresh for my gorgeous girl! 🧡

Fresh, rich copper color, a two-row extension tightening, and a big, bouncy blowout to finish it all off!

This color on Raegan is EVERYTHING! She was born for it. 🍁🍂🔥

A quick little Saturday before & after for you! 🙌🏼

This beauty was ready for brighter blonde and a little extra length!

We reduced the warmth in her blonde, added a soft root tap for a seamless blend, and finished with two perfectly customized rows of 18” extensions!

The perfect combination of brightness, length, and fullness! 😍

Everyone knows me as a short hair girl. But here's the thing… I've never really had a choice! 😂

My natural hair is actually the longest it's EVER been right now. Or at least since I was 9. But it's also extremely fine and thin. And no matter how long I grow it, it's never going to have the fullness I want. Can we also talk about how thin the right side of my hair is compared to the left, and I have NO idea why.

So for years, short hair has been my thing. Not necessarily because I always wanted short hair, but because it's what works best for my natural hair. Andddd...maybe because I embraced the early 2000's with Miley Cyrus and an also liked to be a bit edgy. @bethannwagner don't respond.

But that's the beauty of extensions. They give me a choice. 🤍

I can have healthy, fine, thin natural hair AND still have the long, full hair I've always loved.

And that's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about what I do. Extensions aren't always about wanting MORE hair. Sometimes they're about finally having the hair you've never been able to grow naturally.

And trust me… I get it. Because I'm that girl, too. 🤍 by @extensionsbymashawn

Some wins aren't meant to be announced. Some are just meant to be appreciated.

18 years in business, and we're still learning, still growing, still taking risks, and still making moves behind the scenes.

Not every season has been easy. Not every decision has been comfortable. But every once in a while, we get to look at each other and say, "We really did that."

And today is one of those days.

Proud of us, Jess. 🤍

Still here. Still building. Still believing in what's ahead. Big things!! by @extensionsbymashawn

Hair loss solutions are NOT one-size-fits-all!

This beautiful client has experienced significant thinning on the top of her head, and we've found a solution that makes her feel completely like herself again.

We had been using a semi-permanent hair topper, but she eventually decided she wanted the freedom to remove her hair at night.

Enter the custom clip-in topper! ✨

One of the biggest misconceptions about clip-in toppers is that they won't feel secure or look natural. But when they're properly measured, customized, fitted, and blended with your existing hair, they can be incredibly secure and virtually undetectable!

And the best part? She gets to choose when she wears it.

Hair loss solutions are NOT one-size-fits-all. What works beautifully for one woman may not be the best option for another. That's why I believe in finding a solution that fits your hair, your lifestyle, and your comfort level.

Because you deserve to look in the mirror and recognize the woman looking back at you. 🤍

Seen. Heard. Valued.

When you fly in from FLORIDA for extensions… you know it's going to be a good hair day! ✈️🤍

16 weeks since her last highlight, and it was time for a little refresh!

One thing we've been working toward is creating a blonde that's not only beautiful but also easier to maintain. Because as much as we LOVE a bright blonde, sometimes our hair needs a little break from all that lightening. For this transformation, we did a fresh install of two rows of 18-inch extensions, incorporating some beautiful dimension throughout her extension hair instead of keeping everything one solid blonde.

The result? A softer, dimensional blonde that still feels bright and beautiful without the pressure of maintaining that super-light blonde look.

So thankful for this sweet friend who trusts me with her hair enough to travel all the way from Florida! 🥹

This color deserved a spot on my extension feed!

A beautiful fall color on my equally beautiful cousin! by @extensionsbymashawn

Come with me for a COLOR CORRECTION + 3-row, 24” extension transformation. 🤩

Going from a bleach + tone blonde to a dimensional, deeper color isn’t as simple as putting darker color over it.

There was a whole lot of color theory happening behind the scenes on this one. 👏🏼

We first had to replace the pigment that had been removed from her hair so her new color had something to hold onto. From there, we could create the depth and dimension in her inspo photo, customize her extension color, and finish everything with 3 rows of 24” hand-tied extensions.

And that final inspo vs. reality?! 😮‍💨

Let's just say we breathed a huge sigh of relief at the outcome! Also, huge props to @byjemsage for assisting in this project. Couldn't have done it without her!

Beautiful extension transformations aren’t just about adding hair — the color work that makes it all blend seamlessly is just as important. by @extensionsbymashawn
