This book has morphed so many times. When I started, I genuinely thought each recipe would need a little tweak, I’d re-take a few of the photos and we’d be done in a few months. How naive I was 😂

It’s been over a year of really, really hard work. Testing and retesting, rewriting, photographing, editing, proofreading and making approximately a million tiny decisions.

And if I’m honest, the last few years have been really tough for me personally too. So getting to this point feels like a pretty big deal. I’m really, really proud of this book and of myself for getting here. ❤️

Huge thanks to @rachgold and Anthony at @facepublications — and, frankly, to my iPhone 😂

We are now TWO photos and one numbered index away from my part being done. TWO!! 🎉

There’s still plenty to do. We’re more than three months away from me actually holding the finished books in my hands and now I need to start thinking about marketing it… and clearing enough space in my house for 1,000 books 😳🤦🏻‍♀️ (as well as catching up on all the things I have put off till ‘next week when the book is finished!’)

So when the time comes, I’m counting on you lot to help me clear that space… 😜

I’m soooo happy 🙌
All my photos are done 👍🏼
It’s been a marathon month - cooking all of the recipes that needed new shots again. Cleaning, Cooking, cleaning, photographing, cleaning, cooking, photographing again and again. These here are just from the past 2 days!!!
But I’m done.
Now we’re onto the final edits and getting all of the pictures into the book.
Exciting times ☺️

I have cooked and photographed and cooked and photographed and cooked and photographed and cooked and photographed ☺️

Luckily I love it but I am exhausted. Today I made Mustard, Sesame & Soy Chicken, Kale Crisps, Chicken Balls and Piccata Chicken. ⬆️
.
Now I’m going to flop in front on an episode of ‘Shrinking’ on @appletv and then get ready for poker. ♣️ ♥️ ♦️ where the snacks will be kale crisps among other things.

AJO BLANCO

Ajo blanco is gazpacho’s lesser known but more grown-up cousin — this chilled white garlic soup has a great taste of garlic but isn’t dominated by it or by the flavour of its principal ingredient, almonds, although both ingredients add a really
rich creaminess.

Save this recipe and give it a go..

Ingredients: Serves 4
200g almonds, blanched
100g white bread, slightly stale,
with crusts off
400ml water, ice cold, with a few ice
cubes as part of the volume
3 garlic cloves, peeled and roughly chopped
1 cucumber, peeled and roughly chopped
225ml extra virgin olive oil
Few drops of white wine vinegar to taste

Preheat the oven to 140°C
Lightly toast the almonds in the oven for 5 minutes or until just starting to colour. Allow to cool. Set aside 6 almonds as garnish.
Soak the bread in the iced water for 10 minutes. Squeeze the water out, roughly tear the bread, and then place into a blender.
Add the almonds and a splash of water to the blender, and blend for 1 minute, and then add the garlic, cucumber, extra virgin
olive oil and the vinegar. Blend until finely ground.With the motor running, slowly add the iced water until completely
smooth, and season to taste with a pinch of salt, & a few drops of good quality white wine vinegar

For a more velvety finish, sieve, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Blanch the grapes in a pan of boiling water for 12 seconds, remove
with a slotted spoon and refresh in cold water. Peel off the skin
carefully and cut in half, then chill the grapes.
Divide the soup between chilled shallow bowls, roughly chop the remaining almonds, then scatter over the soup with sliced grapes. Finish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

It’s truly an honour for Andrew and I to be considered amongst such strong contenders. Thank you to the judges who have championed us this far. Thank you also to our editor @lucyaaark our designer Anthony @facepublications and our publicist @je_communications for entering ‘The Irish Kitchen’. @corrigankitty will be happy to see this too! Thank you so much also to the wonderful @dianahenryfood who not only very kindly wrote the most heartfelt foreword for our book, she has also supported us all the way from our first book ’The Irish Bakery’. Monday memories, rewind proudly to 8 years ago …
A book launch and demo @boothscountry & @boroughmarket; it was a real kind of pinch yourself moment, for me on the back of riding a bike through France, Spain & Italy to then author a book, a piece in the historic @theyorkshirepost , 6 pages in the @thecaterermag and then to see the book be so well received and then go on to win a double world gourmand award, but far more importantly raise over £100,000 for @cureleukaemia I was truly humbled….

Today’s the big day! The Irish Kitchen is finally out! Congrats, Cherie Denham and Andrew Montgomery!

Remember The Irish Bakery? Well, Kitty Corrigan, Lucy Kingett, and I are back together, with Montgomery Press, to bring you this amazing book.

Cherie’s got us with all those delicious recipes, Andrew’s captured the perfect shots, Kitty’s written some lovely essays, Lucy’s edited it all together, and I’ve done the design. And the best part? Our friends at 1010printing have printed it all for us.

Oh, and get this—the book has already been nominated for two categories at the 31st Gourmand World Cookbook Awards! It’s going to be held in Saudi Arabia in November, so we’re all keeping our fingers crossed for a win.

It’s not everyday you turn 80 but this guy just did! So we took him on the beautiful @northernbelleuk to Edinburgh for a day of relaxed refined hospitality. A special thanks to our host for the day, Lucy. It was one of the greatest experiences I’ve been lucky enough to share with the guy I get to call dad. Fresh in: Omnivore.

After a couple of years in production working with the wickedly talented Jim Brisby, Simon Woods, Ben Croydon (and the entire brigade of chefs at Cranswick), Annabel Gilbert, and the one and only Yorkshire Gourmet, aka Paul Robinson, behind the lens, the printed copies of Omnivore have finally arrived.

In Cranswick’s fiftieth year in business this book celebrates pork, poultry and Mediterranean cuisine as nutritionally dense sources of food which support a healthy, sustainable and varied diet.

The book aims to change the narrative with regard to eating well, delivering fifty recipes inspired by Cranswick’s multi-cultural community that are nutritionally balanced, high in protein and provide a good source of fibre – a true omnivore’s diet. by @quickhealthyfamilymeals
