Palmer’s small business scene just keeps getting better! @farmloopcoffee is a locally owned, woman-led coffee shop and specialty coffee roastery serving up coffee and pastries right off the Old Glenn Highway. They’re soft opening TODAY (October 31st), with their grand opening coming up November 7th! 📍 2505 N Old Glenn Hwy, Palmer, AK ☕ Thursday–Sunday | 8 AM–5 PM I always love seeing new local businesses pop up in Palmer, so add this one to your list! by @farmloopcoffee
We’ve been training our staff and we’re really excited for you all to meet the team! Pictured is a snapshot of some sensory training where we talked about how to taste and different sensory components. We cupped FLC’s offerings and also compared roast levels on the Costa Rica ☕️ We covered some coffee history, basic chemistry, and this week we are leaning into espresso extraction principles and hanging out in the roastery 😎 Doing our best to prepare our team the best 💪 See you all soon ✨ by @farmloopcoffee
Some messy progress pictures ~~~ It just FEELS so good being in here, we cannot wait to share this space with you all ☕️ by @farmloopcoffee
My talented friend @anniegge took these film photos when we moved the roastery out of my garage this spring 🍃 We have come a very long ways - next post will be announcing opening dates ☕️ by @farmloopcoffee
It’s International Coffee Day! In celebration, we want to introduce you to one of Alaska’s specialty coffee roasters from Palmer, @farmloopcoffee. Farm Loop has sponsored content in the current fall issue. Read the whole story at the link in bio. Aaaand… in case you’re wondering, this post was erroneously labeled AI. It was built by humans 👋 with photography from @farmloopcoffee and content written by Edible Alaska. For five years, Farm Loop Coffee’s loyal community has grown around a shared appreciation for the balanced, flavorful coffee roasted in small batches the way founder Zoe Ash prefers—light to medium at most to highlight each bean’s flavors. Their beans are sustainable and ethically sourced from suppliers using careful processing methods. @farmloopcoffee varieties are easy on the stomach and rich in taste. Soon, grassroots supporters who’ve helped this woman-owned business grow will be able to gather in a new brick and mortar roastery café with a view of their on-site drum roaster. “We’ve been a coffee roaster around here for years, and this is our chance to showcase our coffee in our own way,” Ash says. Stay in the (Farm) Loop! Sign up for their newsletter or follow @farmloopcoffee here to be among the first to know when the café is open for business, and make a plan to visit. by @farmloopcoffee
What’s that? Oh it’s a drive-through window! It’s not in the cards to open drive-through anytime soon but it’s a longer term plan 👏 We are also getting the bar built and it looks amazing! by @farmloopcoffee

D.R. CONGO Muungano Cooperative Country: Democratic Republic of Congo Region: South Kivu Municipality: Kiniezire Varietal: Mainly Bourbon Process: Washed Altitude: 1480-2000 masl Certifications: Organic and Fair Trade Tasting Notes: Nutmeg, lemon, pecan Body: Medium Recommended Brew Methods: Filter Brews, Immersion This coffee comes from the Muungano cooperative in the DRC, which is comprised of about 4,400 smallholder farmers in which almost half are women. In Swahili, the word “Muungano” means “Togetherness”, which is fitting as a primary focus of this co-op is gender justice. The co-op has been able to upgrade a lot of their milling equipment in the recent years, but has always produced exceptional coffee despite times when they had older equipment. They were able to build a health clinic for their members using fair trade funds in 2021, with a vision to expand and develop that program even more as the years progress. In January 2023, Muungano purchased a small dry mill in Goma from a USADP grant. This will allow them to not only process this year’s coffee at the mill, but also offer milling services to other coffee cooperatives who lack their own dry mill. They are able to run their dry mill operation using solar energy, lowering their carbon footprint and the expense of a gas-powered generator. This is the second time we’ve offered this coffee, and we’re very excited to have it back. This coffee is sweet, bright, and complex. With a medium body, it has notes of nutmeg, lemon and pecan. A light earthiness balances the brighter notes, making for a great cup. by @farmloopcoffee

Good news - we’ve been waiting to hear back on some moving parts and pieces and we feel like we can give you a timeline 🎉 Farm Loop Coffee will be opening in LATE FALL ☕️ (and fall is sure on its way here…) We will keep you all updated as we go and things come up! We feel very fortunate to be in the position we are, opening a cafe and moving our roastery, after years of hard work. See you all in the fall! 🍁 by @farmloopcoffee
