Cancer is something I will never take back—but I also will never regret what it has taught me. Through the darkest valleys, I’ve learned the true meaning of faith, courage, and hope. I’ve discovered strength I never knew I carried, and I’ve seen who truly stands with me when the storms of life rage the hardest.

It’s taught me forgiveness—not for others, but for myself. It’s given me a deeper love for life, for the people who matter, and for the small, beautiful moments we often overlook.

Cancer has shaped me into someone I never imagined I could be—stronger, wiser, softer in spirit, yet sharper in purpose. I wouldn’t change that for the world.

Because with pain comes power. And with power comes the will to live fully, gratefully, and unapologetically.

Finding out I had cancer. Blurred visions!

So I underwent my mastectomy surgery, together with yet another shunt complication surgery. The surgery was 3-4 hours long. After the surgery, I was transferred to ICU for close monitoring, where I recovered for about a week. At this point, my body was riddled with trauma. My ability to process everything that was happening was nil to none (the morphine had alot to do with this🤣)

Jokes aside: Day 5.. I remember my surgeon coming into my room, but like no other time. She always cared for me attentively, but this day was different. She pulled the bedside chair close to the bed and took a seat. She also held my hand. I knew what was coming, but there was still something in me that made me dismiss these negative thoughts.

I was choked up even before the words came out of her mouth. 'Farrial, we really didn't expect this, but i got bad news, the mass indeed was cancer' hearing the words every woman dreads.

My heart stopped for a few seconds, and the tears started to flow. I had lost my ability to speak. Within a few seconds, my whole life flashed in front of my eyes. No words is ever gna make any of u realize what this feeling was like so I'm not going to try put this in words but as soon as i could gather my thoughts I made the conscious decision to try and see the positive in the situation.
Don't get me wrong, I questioned God. Why me? I consider myself a good person. Why am I going through all this?? I very quickly realized God gives you the challenge, but he also provides the cure. This is happening because iv drifted. Because he wants me to completely put my trust in him, and he wants me to positively use my struggles and tell my story, create awareness. I needed to fight this and make this my testimony.

I have always been a positive person and dealt with many of the situations iv been through this way but there were days I felt like I was losing hope. Days where I realized u need to be positive but farrial, your positivity is doing you injustice. Toxic positively is a real thing. As much as it helps you through, it also causes a build up of unresolved feelings and the ability to see things for what it is. by @farrial_fiona

Breast Cancer Story: Part 2

When I discovered this lump in my breast while laying in a hospital bed,I immediately told my neurosurgeon about it. Preparing for a 4th surgery due to complications. I said to him...this lump hurts, is it possible to have it removed tomorrow when I do my shunt surgery??? I was soooo tired of all these surgeries and just wanted to kill two birds with one Stone. At this point,I still did not think this could be cancer. Maybe that's because iv had breast lumps previously (fibroadenoma) A solid non cancerous breast lump.
I was told by a breast Dr that the chances of these ever becoming cancer are extremely slim, and I believed that!

My neurosurgeon thought I was crazy for wanting to have this mass removed at such short notice but immediately contacted my breast surgeon.
She came to see me in hospital just a few moments later. Agreed to have the breast lump removed but made it clear that I needed to follow normal protocol and go have an ultrasound done first as i was too young to have a mammogram. Given my history ,she also believed this could just be another non cancerous lump but needed to be sure.

That very same day,I had the ultrasound done. I could tell the procedure was taking extra long and that there were some kind of concern, but I still just brushed it off and didn't entertain the thought of cancer.

I was then informed that I needed to have a mammogram because there was something on the ultrasound that they were concerned about, and the mammogram would give them a bit more clarity. Immediately went for the mammogram

Once this was complete, I had a fine needle biopsy done.
All this in one day because my beautiful surgeon (bless her) wanted to make my wishes of removing this lump the next day possible. (Granted it was not cancerous)

Later that day. The Dr came to see me. She advised me that I could not have the mass removed the next day as the results of the biopsy confirmed that I had something called a boarderline phyllodes tumor.

These tumors are diagnosed when the mass does not possess all the adverse histological characteristics of malignant phyllodes tumors.

To be continued.
