“Life threw us a curveball with you Katalina. My Velcro baby who loves mami so much. You taught me to find my voice and advocate for you. You taught me patience and reminded me that everything in God’s plan is perfect no matter how difficult it may seem in the moment. You’re so beautiful and happy, nobody knows of anything you’re dealing with! I can’t wait for the moment you hear your first words and my voice.”

I wrote that for my baby months before she heard her first sounds.

I get emotional reading that bc the way I felt, I truly needed to leave it all in God’s hands. I thank my Mami for instilling this faith in me.

One year later, she’s grown leaps and bounds. I’m so thankful for NYU Cochlear Implant Center and their amazing team in every department. I’m so thankful for her speech therapist at CHC, who has taught and encouraged her before her cochlear implants were even on. For her baby group that allows her to interact and socialize with other hard of hearing and deaf babies.

I’m so proud of my baby and grateful for everyone that’s been apart of this process. She’s been SO supported from the start and that’s what has gotten her so far ❤️

Happy one year my little love 🥹

i signed “ready?” and she signed back “wait”

she wasn’t copying me. she still had cereal and was definitely not ready but she had a way to tell me 🥹

my girl is two, she’s deaf, and she just told me to hold on. We’re learning this language together and I am not okay. 😭💜

they say don’t meet your idols or the famous ppl you love

i’ve met her twice and this woman has been the absolute sweetest and kindest BOTH times

the first time I saw her was in 2024, I was pregnant with my daughter but determined to see her and she didn’t disappoint

she made us laugh, she took pics with us, rubbed my belly and shared some of her birth story

In 2026 she came to my area, unexpectedly, so I had to call my cousin to go see her and she was downnnn ❤️ I love you vali @valiblueeyes

these moments mean so much to me bc not only do I support her in all that she does, I started watching JBP bc of her 😭 but her attitude and the way she carries herself lets me know she is beyond deserving and exactly why I will continue to support her

there’s nothing you can say to make me feel differently. Mona I LOVE YOU THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU ❤️

who’s the life of the party in your house? ⬇️

baby girl was in RARE form and had the party turnt. no sound necessary, pure vibes 😭❤️

I was shocked that she was really dancing and just vibing with everyone.

she pulled us all onto the dance floor, so guess what we did? danced 😂 by @faviola._

ordered a number 3 but they forgot the fries 🍟😭

katalina was not budging on the costume so this was as good as it got 😩❤️ by @faviola._

we’ve hit a milestone!!! my baby telling me she wants grapes 🍇

in the last month she’s picked up “where are you?”, “peek a boo,” and now “I want grapes”

if you’d told me this was possible in january 2025, idk if I would have believed you. my world was rocked when we got those ABR results

now look at us. she was implanted in may 2025, and we’re 1.5 years hearing. I couldn’t be more proud 🥹

I was told to focus on spoken language instead of signing, but that never felt right. watch her sign “want” while she says “I want grapes”

what was your little one’s first sentence?

if you just got the news and you’re where I was in january 2025, I wrote the guide I wish I’d had. DM me GUIDE and I’ll send it to you nov 7 🤍 by @faviola._

it’s going to be a family costume… any guesses what we’ll be? 🤭

baby group at speech was so cute! especially seeing all the other babies in their costumes, but my girl was NOT with it 😅

her therapist handed her a crown instead and she was so happy 👑

the costume is a little bulky, so I should’ve been practicing. wish us luck these next few days 😅

last call: I wrote down everything I wish I’d known after her diagnosis. DM me GUIDE and I’ll send it Oct 31 by @faviola._

what’s your toddler’s favorite book?

katalina went in momo’s room earlier, found one of his books, and decided this was the one 😂

I took it from her at first, but then she signed “book,” so I had to give it back!

especially on an ears-off morning (no cochlear implants yet)

I want to respond to her signs so she knows they “work”

maybe im overthinking it but im just trying to get it right!

then ellani hopped in to reinforce the signs and show her the words, big sis style 💕

CI parents, how do you keep them on when your little one is sick? 🤔

pernil, collard greens, and arroz con gandules tonight. all new to me and household approved 🇵🇷

seriously tho, katalina wasn’t feeling well last week and keeping her cochlear implants on has been a challenge.

her wear time is down, and some days I just let her rest.

now that she’s feeling better, time to get it back up one hour at a time 💜

what turned your week around?

after the week we had, today finally turned around. katalina’s feeling a little better, so I took her and ellani to the park for some fresh air

then I got home and checked my email… my first opportunity for complimentary food and drinks for content 🥹

there were days this week I really didn’t want to post. consistency is paying of!

if you’re in a heavy week too, keep going 🤍 by @faviola._
