I’m scared of ageing, but I’m so glad to grow older.
With every year that passes, I gain more clarity about what truly matters to me and what I want to give to the world. I spend my days investigating, exploring, and learning… and whatever gifts God gave me, I’m committed to discovering and nurturing them, only to share them back.

I’m proud to have found a community that believes in what I do, that supports and carries me as I continue to uncover what I was meant to do in this life.

I am grateful.
I am happy.
I am excited and hopeful for what’s to come.

One day you grow up and realize that love looks a little less like a Disney fairytale and a little more like fixing a washing machine together on a Wednesday afternoon.

For so many summers of my teenage years, going to the beach felt like torture.

I spent hours thinking about which bikini to wear, whether my clothes were flattering enough, whether my hair should be lighter or darker, whether something should be smaller, bigger, trendier. So much of my precious time was spent watching myself from the outside, that I barely had any left to actually be there.

And this summer I kept thinking: this is a teenage dream.

Tunisia. The food. Sand sticking to my skin. Salt water. The heat and the sticky sweat. Conversations about God and the meaning of life and marriage and what it actually means to be free.

And I’m coming to realize that there is something almost impossible to explain about the freedom of growing older. Not simply aging, but being given the time to grow up, to repair, and to transform what has been so painful in the past.

When I was younger, I was so afraid of it. Of my body changing. Of becoming less beautiful, less desirable, less whatever I thought I was supposed to be.

Now I think: what a gift.

Growing older is time being given to you. Time to become freer. Time to become more yourself. Time to experience this weird, contradictory, enormous privilege of being alive.

Too many summers were spent at war with myself. And now I just hope I’ll never stop tasting everything. Feeling everything. Swimming, sweating, resting, creating, loving. Arms wide open to whatever life still has to give me, and committed to digging deeper and deeper until I uncover the most luminous, authentic, raw version of myself I can find. And making something worthwhile with it.

I keep telling myself: what a gift. by @felidubra
