This spot for Nationwide Insurance was so much fun to shoot, and I LOVE how it turned out!

It was kind of a full-circle moment because my commercial daughter was the same age, shooting her very first commercial, as I was when I got started as an actor.

I even got to put my real-life dad skills to work on camera. 😊

Footage © its respective owners and shared for portfolio/performance purposes only. I’m just borrowing my 30 seconds back. 😄 by @ferchland

Had an awesome day on set yesterday. 🎬

…and I had to spoil my kids with something I picked up on the way home. 🍩 😋

Stills from a self tape.

Never had a chance to play a part like this, and maybe never will again! I mean the jobs fun, love getting work, but I’ve hit the point where the self tape is the fun for me now. I found what I love about it and it’s enough. by @ferchland

Frames from a #selftape

I think of each self tape as its own little film. We’re well beyond just acting now. Gotta be a multi hyphenate, sound, dp, camera, director, editor. We can argue that actors should just act, and I agree, but we have to meet the times we’re in.

Personally I just love to create stuff, so I enjoy the process. You don’t book most stuff anyway, might as well scratch all the itches. by @ferchland

Doing voice over auditions from home. Tough life!

New hair, who dis? ✂️ by @ferchland

I LOVE getting to play with my friends.

Indie filmmaking has so much life and vibrancy because it really is the filmmaker’s medium. Sure, you may not have every crazy resource imaginable, but you get to make movies about monster puppets in a wonderfully zany world like this.

Can’t wait to see the final film once it crawls out of post-production. by @ferchland

I often think about my trip to London for Vampire Ball in 2018 and the incredible Buffy community there. It was such a great convention, and getting to meet so many fans from the UK was an amazing experience.

Every now and then, I still have those “Is this really happening?” moments. As an actor, you’re often so disconnected from the life of a project after you’ve wrapped. You do the work, move on to the next one, and rarely get to experience what it means to the people who watched it.

Getting to spend a weekend meeting the people who kept these characters and stories alive all those years later was something I’ll always be grateful for. What a trip. by @ferchland

Grand Rapids has such an incredible film community. Indie film is alive and well here.

Tonight I caught Noah Bashore’s Walter, Grace & the Submarine at Wealthy Theatre. If you missed it there, you can still catch it on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, or Tubi. Seriously though, it’s a fantastic film.

Also, a shout-out to the CANS Film Festival. Such a creative concept, and a great way to give back to filmmakers by celebrating their work and bringing the local film community together.
