Welcome to UNWANTED WANTED & WANTED AGAIN: The Alchemy Project , donated items were gilded with 22-carat gold and resold, taking into account the hours spent on the gilding, the price of gold and the waste value. Our installation also included the global minimum hourly wages, which were printed on the windows, a large hand-drawn map of well-known gold mines, and the daily gold prices. The FI team kept a logbook recording the hours spent, the materials used, the price of the gold leaf, and the waste generated by each item. A second sale of the items will take place on 30 and 31 May.

We and our team are super excited for the opening of our live art installation at the end of next week, which will be on view until May: WANTED / UNWANTED & WANTED AGAIN: The Alchemy Project in Hong Kong
Many thanks to Tai Kwun Contemporary for the invitation and commission to be part of 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥: 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘦
https://www.taikwun.hk/en/programme/detail/stay-connected-supplying-the-globe/1714. Since 1997, Foreign Investment has been engaging in gold projects worldwide, exploring the transmutation of the seemingly worthless into valuable entities. In its current venture in Hong Kong, unwanted household items are collected from the public and transformed through gold gilding, a process that reassigns value through care and material. This act of up-cycling, within a participatory framework, exposes the covert mechanisms of production, consumption, and waste management that permeate our daily existence.

HAPPY HOUR
is inspired by weather reports, swinging between normality and crisis mode in the summer of 2019, a summer of rising temperatures, burning Tundra, deforestation and rapidly melting Greenland ice. The empty space of the Holden Gallery will provide the backdrop to a dance session, provocations and interruptions. In addition to the visuals and the sound, we are asking some vexed questions around the problems of making art in times of impending disasters and what it means to us socially, ecologically and environmentally. Interruptions is a series of interdisciplinary performances and events that intersects the Holden Gallery’s annual programme of exhibitions. https://foreign-investments.com/happy-hour/

“I don’t know what I want, but I want it NOW!”
With the title from a quote by Vivian Stanshall, the exhibition explores themes of immediacy, urgency, compulsion and capitalism with works by artists from different global perspectives and moments in time. #aptstudios #cabledepot #alandunn #sublimemagazine # by @fi_foreign_investments

Exciting news! Rosemary's work 'Climbing up the Walls’ is on display @xxijrahi_Morphogenesis until February 22, 2025. I was delighted to include it in the exhibition 'I don't know what I want but I want it now' that I curated @aptgalleryone01 last year. The show featured dancers interpreting the art over a weekend, culminating in a brilliant performance led by choreographer @bimmalcomson
