“Happy Halloween from Vault-Tec!” This was my first time throwing a house party, I had been wanting to a Fallout theme for awhile. What should I do next year? #halloween2026 #halloween #fallout by @filmsbyhobbs
I don’t normally do this sort of thing, but I wanted to share this. In 2024, I worked on STRING THEORY for the 77 Hour Film Project as co-producer, production sound mixer, boom operator, and composer of its original song. The story follows a grieving daughter who remembers the melody her late father taught her, using it to travel back in time. I spent two or three days writing “String Theory Theme,” with help from lead actor and powerhouse Julia Strug @julia.strug and input from the cast and crew. Every guitar part heard in the film is played by me. There’s another version that never made it into the film. Less than a minute of the full length song was used in the film. After wrap, I went home, plugged in Hazel, my first electric guitar, an Epiphone Dot semi-hollow named after Eddie, and recorded two full takes, each over ten minutes. What you’re hearing now is take two, recorded on my iPhone on November 18, 2024. Imperfect and wandering, it captures a moment I’ve held onto after an exhausting few days. STRING THEORY remains one of the projects I’ve felt most connected to. I helped shape the final film in the editing room with my best friends, my mentor and the film’s lead. What began as a 77-hour challenge went on to screen at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, River Oaks Theatre, and MATCH Houston. Nearly two years later, it screens again tomorrow, Sunday, October 18, at Aurora Chapel as part of Houston Latino Film Festival’s Cine de Muertos: Short Films — Día de Muertos block. Unfortunately, I can’t attend because I’ll be on set wrapping BURNING ALIVE, another project which feels to be yet another special moment, but I’m grateful STRING THEORY is still breathing and continues to live on. For this occasion, I’m finally sharing the full 10+ minute electric guitar rendition. Two takes, recorded almost two years ago, just before falling asleep for well over your doctors recommended 7-8 hours of sleep. Thank you to everyone who made this film and experience what it is. Screening tickets & full recording linked in my Story/Highlight. Full cast & crew credits in the comments. #StringTheory #HoustonLatinoFilmFestival #ProductionSound #OriginalMusic by @filmsbyhobbs

Finding locations for film is difficult. Exacerbated by a tight shooting schedule and little notice, it’s a miracle the management at @cactus_music and Texas Charm allowed us to film inside their stores. Thank you to @maximos.sound for your connections, @filmsbyhobbs for your ability to call anyone and convince them of our antics, and Teresa Whittington of Texas Charm for gracefully inviting us into your store during busy business hours. Films are made together, and collaboration with your local community is so important! 🎬 Catch a screening of ‘String Theory’ on Feb 25th @ 7PM during the @theriveroakstheatre’s ‘Houston Filmmaker Showcase’ OR during the @houstonlatinofilmfestival on March 18-22nd! 📲 Follow to stay in the loop about our films and learn more about filmmaking! #cinematography #film #filmmaking #thesetupvstheshot #bts Credits: Director: @jerzycarranza Writer: @kailajs Executive Producer: @jerzycarranza Producer: @filmsbyhobbs DP: @jerzycarranza Starring: @julia.strug @matt_jacob_taylor @kylefuhouston Extras: @becksxox__ @filmsbyhobbs @charlespluke @jerzycarranza Writers Assitants: @christianlambhtx @charlespluke 1st AD: @filmsbyhobbs Gaffer: @jerzycarranza Grip: @fsosa210 @charlespluke and Levi Dolney 1st AC: @fsosa210 2nd AC: @christianlambhtx Production Sound Mixer: @maximos.sound Original score composed by: @maximos.sound Art Director: @becksxox__ HMU: @becksxox__ Safety Coordinator: @kotaotb Crafty Services: @serena_tsuk1no BTS: @_ac.b_ Editors: @jerzycarranza @julia.strug Graphic Design: @nuggzki Drone Pilot: @astro_sammuel Production Assistants: @charlespluke @mattthecurran and Levi Dolney Special Thanks: Teresa Whittington of Texas Charm and Quinn Bishop of Cactus Music by @filmsbyhobbs

Originally created as a 48 Hour Film Project, ‘String Theory’ was written, shot, and edited in under 3 days. I couldn’t be any prouder of my crew, friends, and team for the local festival success we’ve had since its completion. This truly was a team effort, and I couldn’t be happier with how far we’ve come since. I want to thank @htxmade_films @localseahag and the @cinemasocietyhtx for accepting us into their ‘Houston Stories’ block last year during their annual Houston Cinema Arts Festival! 🎬 Catch a screening of ‘String Theory’ on Feb 25th @ 7PM during the @theriveroakstheatre’s ‘Houston Filmmaker Showcase’ OR during the @houstonlatinofilmfestival on March 18-22nd! 📲 Follow to stay informed about our upcoming films and see more BTS from our sets! #cinematography #film #filmmaking #houstonfilm #nisiopticsusa Credits: Director: @jerzycarranza Writer: @kailajs Executive Producer: @jerzycarranza Producer: @filmsbyhobbs DP: @jerzycarranza Starring: @julia.strug @matt_jacob_taylor @kylefuhouston Extras: @becksxox__ @filmsbyhobbs @charlespluke @jerzycarranza Writers Assitants: @christianlambhtx @charlespluke 1st AD: @filmsbyhobbs Gaffer: @jerzycarranza Grip: @fsosa210 @charlespluke and Levi Dolney 1st AC: @fsosa210 2nd AC: @christianlambhtx Production Sound Mixer: @maximos.sound Original score composed by: @maximos.sound Art Director: @becksxox__ HMU: @becksxox__ Safety Coordinator: @kotaotb Crafty Services: @serena_tsuk1no BTS: @_ac.b_ Editors: @jerzycarranza @julia.strug Graphic Design: @nuggzki Drone Pilot: @astro_sammuel Production Assistants: @charlespluke @mattthecurran and Levi Dolney Special Thanks: Teresa Whittington of Texas Charm and Quinn Bishop of Cactus Music by @filmsbyhobbs
