Handled as Expected 🥇

Today marks 5 days until I step into all that I’ve worked for these last 5 years. I will officially be a 5th generation college graduate (maternally) & the 1st gen on my daddy’s side — I don’t take this privilege lightly.

This milestone carries all that I have become over these last 5 years as well as the trajectory of my lineage 🌱. I honor all of the women in my family who led by example, my loved ones who held me accountable and kept me inspired, my crotch fruit; Zayn and Zara who taught me so much as I step into all that I am becoming, and above all God for strengthening my spine to carry all that is to come with grace, tenacity, & intention.

Officially a Bachelor of Social Work graduate 🎓

This degree was EARNED through faith, lived experience, a solid village, motherhood, and an unwillingness to abandon myself in the process.

The more I studied systems, the more I understood how deeply race, gender, class, and maternal identity shape who gets access to softness, support, protection, and opportunity. That understanding changed me permanently.

I’m leaving this chapter even more committed to work rooted in community, liberation, advocacy, and creating spaces where those affected by social determinants of health are seen and supported.
