Chihiro’s Sweet peas and note 🌺

I was very surprised at how purple one of the colours turned out! Also the line work on this was bad, I’ve been told that stroke and coat is harder for line work!

Every time I started to paint it either was soo patchy or too thick so💁🏼‍♀️

I’m happy with how it turned out, the colours are soooo bright compared to it as just underglaze, it’s crazy how much they change! If i was to do it again I’d decrease the contrast between the purple and pink tones and I’d lighten the colours too! 💞🌷

Ps. Thank you to my mum and dad who I had to instruct for these photos as I’m not in the correct city right now , you are loved 💞

It’s back from the kiln and I have some thoughts!😶‍🌫️

I did this mug in 2 hours and you can tell it’s quite rushed. I’m very critical of the things I do so I think i focus too much on the small details that didn’t go to plan! BUT

All in all I think this was successful and came out well! 🌞

The magic of firing 💫

It’s finally back from the kiln! How do we think it turned out? 🌌

It’s definitely got its problems but I think there’s so much to learn from it! The colours are so gorgeous but there’s a few careless mistakes. Overall a success I think 🤔

HI! So I guess we should formally introduce ourselves! 💁🏼‍♀️

Our names are Abi & Rebecca and we are two friends that met through the film industry in the UK last year (and who also have a criminally small about of photos together.)😶‍🌫️

We recently discovered that we have complementary skill sets - Rebecca is a potter and Abi is a painter so we’ve decided to team up to create some unique pottery pieces together. And seeing where that goes maybe push it towards a small business that can work alongside our careers in the film industry. 💫

We hope to show our love of film through these pieces, especially film routed within our own feelings of nostalgia. As you can see, especially for Abi that’s very heavily based around Ghibli films and anime! And Rebecca’s all time favourites are in the classics, like the Death of Colonel Blimp!

When we think of film, especially media from when we were younger it’s specific scenes and sounds that comes back to us in flashes, it’s the atmosphere that really brings up that feeling of warmth, so often associated with nostalgia. And we aim to capture that in our pottery. Whenever you reach for that mug, or see that vase you are transported back to how you felt watching those films.

I’m sure there will be many miss steps and challenges so follow along as we navigate this new step in both of our lives and learn along with us!

Thanks to those who are already here and to those who are yet to join!

Much love, Abs & Rebecca ❣️
