I also hate the sound of people eating something that’s too hot, but let’s save that for another day. I even just saved 15% on car insurance by switching to geico!! (The second one is a lie) Anywho I hope y’all like to read, because here’s some cliffs notes on lil ol me. Ask me anything. Welcome! 💚💜 #aboutme #slcmua #saltlakecitymakeupartist #utahmakeupartist #utahmua by @firstdegreeglamour
HUMBLE BRAG INCOMING! This is what they had to say about me during my contract for the fringe show, Mirror Mirror: A Naughty Villains Cabaret. 🥹🥹🥹 “Jaime was our makeup designer for our Disney villains themed show. We had a lot of colorful characters with very luscious, animated and vibrant makeup demands. Jaime did her research well on the characters and approached each character from a fresh perspective. Jaime used multiple different methods on the characters with body paint, (Scar and Ursula.) She used water activated paints and an airbrush, and was able to do extremely detailed work with shading and contouring. Watching Jaime work was like watching Picasso paint! Jaime also had a keen eye for which characters in the cast of 9 needed a touch up or accented details. She made each and every actor feel confident to rock the stage in all their glitter and glam. I couldn’t recommend Jaime’s services enough!” - Laren Steppler of @lstenorentertainment #stagemakeup #theatermakeup #makeupartist #humblebrag #theatermakeupartist by @firstdegreeglamour

Having my makeup kit, personal life, and home life completely cruelty-free certified is so important to me. Sadly animal testing is still alive and well, even in the US! Marshall Bioresources, an animal testing breeding company in North Rose NY, holds approximately 60 000 animals in its facility. I understand if you use brands that are on this list right now, but I encourage you to look behind the curtain of these practices and what it does to animals in the name of cosmetics, skincare, household items, perfume, etc. It’s so unnecessary. I’d also like the emphasize the importance of cruelty-free certifications. They’re easy to get if you can show the work. Too many brands lie about being cruelty free, or trick you with clever wording, or not giving you all the information. Look for the certified logos, and if you’re not sure do a quick internet search! Let me know if you’d like a post of brands that ARE certified cruelty-free! #crueltyfreebeauty #crueltyfreemakeupartist #crueltyfreemua #crueltyfreemakeup #stopanimaltesting by @firstdegreeglamour
I’ll choose the easier ones for now! - Letting your skincare fully SOAK IN before applying your base helps deter pilling. After I do my skincare, I work on my eyes and brows for about 15+ minutes before I head into my primer/foundation. Or you can go make a coffee! Whatever you gotta do to let that stuff absorb. - A ✨transition shade✨ helps blend your primary eyeshadow into your overall look. On myself I use a taupe, or even my bronzer with a fluffy eye brush swiping it gently like a windshield wiper from my crease to brow bone, focussing the strokes outwards and up. - Apply your products on a palette or the back of your hand first rather than directly applying onto your face. This gives you exact control over how much product you’re using, because most of the times less is more! - When applying your foundation, use a brush starting from the center of your face outwards (almost like a sun) - Makeup is art and it’s okay to experiment with looks and products. I’ll use an eyeshadow as a blush idgaf. - CLEAN YO DAMN BRUSHES. Get a daily cleaner, spray/pour onto a clean tissue or paper towel, and swirl your brush around to clean off the gunk you just put on there. Also do a deep clean every now and then! Brushes are gold. Treat ‘em with respect and they will treat you well. #makeuptips #makeupschool #muathings #muatips #makeuplesson by @firstdegreeglamour

SUPER ITSY BITSY TEENIE WEENIE RECAP! Because let me get this straight… Makeup artists work with their hands. We need to keep them clean. We need to collect content. With our hands. Our clean hands. We also need to work quickly. While simultaneously being our own videographer and photographer while maintaining a speedy and hygienic makeup application. So anyways! I chose speed and hygiene SORRY GUYS!!!! 🙆‍♀️ Didn’t collect much content but HEY! I can tell ya here that 8 nights in a row of doing near full body Ursula makeup was so much freakin’ fun. Hanging backstage doing details and touch ups on other characters, helping with quick changes and wardrobe, minor wig fixes….ah! The drama. The dream. Can’t wait to do it again. Maybe y’all can tell me some tricks for ALSO grabbing content while trying to do my actual job effectively hahahaha 💋 #theatermua #fringefestival #stagemua #slcmua #utahmua by @firstdegreeglamour
