POSTS STORIES REELS
Every story begins with paying attention. To people. To place. To purpose. At Fir Tree Media we create documentary-led films and photography for outdoor brands, environmental organisations, and purpose-driven small businesses. Rooted in Herefordshire and shaped by the landscapes around us, we focus on authentic storytelling through thoughtful filmmaking and natural imagery. If your work is connected to nature, craft, or community, we’d love to help you share it with honesty and care. MEET THE RUNNER | SAM When it comes to running, @samhaskell_ simply loves it. An avid runner, Sam has kept his running streak going for over two years, running every single day. Now that’s dedication! But for Sam, the @gravelandgritevents Backyard Ultra was about more than just the miles. Sam told us about the brilliant camaraderie and sense of community that made the event so special. Something that was clear for us to see throughout the weekend and, hopefully, something we’ve managed to capture in The Fear of Stopping. It’s what makes the Backyard Ultra so much more than just a running event. The people, the encouragement and the shared experience of taking on something difficult together. And Sam isn’t finished yet. He’ll be back next year, ready to give it his all. by @firtree.media
MEET THE RUNNER | ALEX When we first met @alexanderklismo, it was the morning of the @gravelandgritevents Backyard Ultra. We grabbed a quick interview before the race began, with no idea just how much of a part he would go on to play in our documentary and the story we were telling. Taking on his first ever Backyard Ultra, Alex went on to become our penultimate DNF, pushing himself through a challenge that tests you in ways a traditional point-to-point race simply doesn’t. In this runner profile, Alex reflects on his experience. What he enjoyed, what he found most challenging and the advice he’d give to anyone taking on next year’s event. Every runner has a story. Here’s Alex’s. by @firtree.media
🎬 IT’S HERE! THE FEAR OF STOPPING IS NOW LIVE! We’re so so so excited to share our short documentary following Bristol’s first @gravelandgritevents Backyard Ultra. After months of looking through the content we filmed, editing, colour grading and audio post-production, we can finally share the story we captured over that May bank holiday weekend. A huge thank you to Ewan and Sunny for trusting us to bring their vision to life, and to every runner who made this event what it was. We’d really appreciate your support. If you enjoy the film, please give it a like, leave us a comment and share it with others. Every bit of support helps us reach more people and means we can continue doing what we love. ❤️ ▶️ Watch now on YouTube: @firtreemedia #TheFearOfStopping #GravelAndGrit #BackyardUltra #Ultrarunning #FirTreeMedia by @firtree.media
The rain is coming in. Sam is heading back out🌧️🏃 At a Backyard Ultra, every hour brings another lap. No matter the conditions, runners have to decide whether they’re ready to go again. At Bristol’s first BYU gravelandgritevents, over 100 runners took on the challenge. By the end, only one runner remained. But every runner had their own journey, their own challenges and their own end goal. This is just a glimpse of what unfolded that weekend, and one of the many moments from The Fear of Stopping. 🎬 Don’t forget “The Fear of Stopping” goes live today at 5 pm on our YouTube. #TheFearOfStopping #GravelAndGrit #BackyardUltra #Ultrarunning #FirTreeMedia by @firtree.media
24 HOURS TO GO🎬 Back in May, over 100 runners stood on the start line of Bristol’s first @gravelandgritevents Backyard Ultra. But only one runner would make it to the finish. Since the May bank holiday, we’ve spent days working through hours of footage and photographs, piecing together the stories that unfolded throughout the event. The rain, the grit, the exhaustion, the highs and lows, and the strong sense of community that brought everyone together. Bringing Ewan and Sunny’s (race directors) vision to life has been our joy, and we’ve worked hard to capture the event as authentically as possible. Because this is more than a running documentary. It’s a story about human resilience, the limits we set ourselves, and just how far we can push beyond them. The Fear of Stopping. Out tomorrow at 5 pm on YouTube 🍿 We can’t wait to share this one with you😁 #TheFearOfStopping #GravelAndGrit #BackyardUltra #Ultrarunning #FirTreeMedia by @firtree.media

The question is, who will be the final finisher?👀 🎥 The Fear of Stopping premieres this Friday at 5pm on our YouTube channel. With wedding season done for another year, I’m reminding myself how lucky I am to get to call this a job! It’s pretty special to play a part in each couples big day each and every time and the excitement of preparing, delivering and completing a job never gets old. I’m so excited to share the first in a series of impact stories from George’s Fund. ✨ First up is @marchesfamilynetwork, and a look at what a George’s Fund grant helped make possible. 🥹 Watch their story and find out more in bio link or here: https://www.georgesfund.co.uk/blog/marches-family-network by @firtree.media
Good storytelling starts before you press record. We’d already met Meg and spent time learning more about the work of @marchesfamilynetwork before we sat down for this interview. That time matters. It means we can understand the people, the purpose and the journey behind an organisation, rather than simply turning up with a camera. Stories are one of the oldest tools we have for human connection. They bring a human touch to your brand, helping people understand not just what you do, but why you do it, through values and experiences that resonate with the people watching. For us, it’s about listening first, asking the right questions and creating space for people to tell their stories in their own words. Then using film and photography to share those stories in the most honest and meaningful way possible. This is part of a wider project with @marchesfamilynetwork and @georges_fund , exploring the difference that funding can make to organisations, families and communities across Herefordshire. We can’t wait to share more soon. 🎥 Have a story you want to share? We’d love to hear it, please send us a DM . And a big thank you to @lauinfocus for capturing these behind-the-scenes photos for us 📷 #behindthescene #storytelling #interview by @firtree.media
Some of our favourite shots from our two-part film for Plantlife on the Lugg Meadows 🌾 Right from the start we knew we didn't want to just turn up, shoot a few interviews and leave. We wanted the finished films to feel like the meadows. So we kept going back, several times over, chasing the good light, early mornings and golden evenings, to build up a proper library of B-roll. That meant working at every scale: getting down low with the macro lens among the wildflowers and insects, and getting up high with the drone to show just how big and open this ancient landscape is. The interviews tell the story, but it's those in-between moments that let you really be there. Swipe through for a few of our favourites 👉 Grass seed heads catching the evening light. A grasshopper hiding in the leaves. Yellow wildflowers at ground level. Walking the meadow with the Sunderland's team. A painted lady butterfly on the daisies. Heading out across the meadow. by @firtree.media
