Good morning!
We have a new practitioner at Five Pins: Allison Baymiller of Soft Flight Healing.
If you prefer, or want to try, softer touch bodywork, Allison is a great choice. She incorporates Swedish, lymphatic drainage, and myofascial release. Allison weaves somatic mediation and breathwork into each session. A wonderful combination for our modern activated nervous systems!
Check her out! by @fivepinsproject

“You need both inner work and relational mirrors. Without relationships, parts of yourself may remain unseen.” Thanks for the wisdom, Carl Jung.

As I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of friends and chosen family this weekend, I’m feeling really grateful for how those long relationships have shaped, challenged, and supported me. My community keeps me politically radical and emotionally honest. What a gift!

Speaking of gifts, thanks for sending me all these fives! Keep ‘em coming!

Hello from a perimenopause insomnia haze!
Whoa, it’s so real. Even with all the HRT, and lifestyle hacks, and supplements, and sleep hygiene, and and and…I’m still a woman of a certain age with a human body. Thank goddess I have the luxury of being able to take a nap this afternoon. I haven’t had this little sleep since I had a newborn!

Thanks for sending these excellent fives!

“It is the obligation of every person born in a safer room to open the door when someone in danger knocks.” Thank you for that guidance Dina Nayeri!

And thank you for all the fives! I even got a real life one in the snail mail from @therajahpress ! (Please tell me you follow her?)

Happy Birthday Five Pins Project! Lucky 13!

There’s too much to say about that last 13 years to wrap up in a punchy post. This little store front has held a lot: so much and so many types of healing. I’m deeply grateful to be here, now. Thank you all for bringing your bodies, minds and spirits to this special place, and to me. It is an honor to be part of your journey.

Eat breakfast: it’s good for your body. Read books/zines: they’re good for your mind.

“When one is pretending, the entire body revolts.” Thank you Anaïs Nin!
Have you experienced this? Your own body’s revolution? Maybe a stomach ache after a stressful day? A migraine when you’ve hit your emotional limit? Or just getting sick when you’re too run down from going going going? Sometimes our bodies stop us when our brains/egos/trauma tells us to keep on keeping on. Such wisdom!

Also- a book I’m hoping will keep my kid from the evils of these screens. Thank you @dorimidnight !

Good morning Sunday! I hope your weekend is going well. Restful? Fun? Productive?

I’ve been getting a lot of DMs about HRT. It’s great! I love sharing the information I’ve gathered over the last several years. Really the best way to chat with me about your perimenopause journey is via a telehealth appointment which you can book through my website. That way we can dive deep into your specific questions. Just 30-45 min and we can cover all the basics from treatment options, how to talk with your MD about what you want, symptom relief, and so much more. I just opened a few spots on Friday mornings. Get ‘em while they’re hot!

And thanks for the fives!

Eat breakfast!
Break your all night fast!

It will lower your cortisol which is suppressing your appetite and/or making you kinda nauseous in the morning. It will regulate your blood sugar and hormones and give you the nourishment you need to function.

A new fave for me: baked egg. Put left over veg/rice/quinoa in an oven safe container, crack an egg on top, put in 375 oven, get in the shower, get ready for your day- and bam, a delicious hot breakfast is cooking while you’re getting everything else together.

“…you cannot live moral life if you’re not willing to open your eyes and see the world more clearly.” Thank you Bill Ayers. This quote in no way captures the radical brilliance of the Weather Underground. I really wanted to share some wisdom from Bernadine Dohr but her words were too long to fit on my little sandwich board. Respect.

I was really inspired by Zayd Ayers Dohrn’s podcast Mother Country Radicals and even more juiced about his new book Dangerous, Dirty, Violent & Young. Check them out if you are a radical parent, you need some inspiration for these hard times, or just like good story telling.

Hi friends! I haven’t been posting much on here bc I’m going through (another) phase of wondering why we all engage with this platform so much. Are we just going to keep on doing it? Remember when everyone left briefly?

Also wondering if I’ve already said all the things I have to say. (Reminding you to eat breakfast, take some time to rest, put down your phone, see your friends, ask your MD about HRT, organize with your neighbors, don’t buy into BS beauty standards, make art, read books…) Hard to know. Maybe I’ll think of new things.
Today I can remind you that when it’s hot out, TCM recommends cooling foods like watermelon, cucumber, and mint. Is that helpful?

Thanks for sending me pics of fives from near and far. I love getting them.
