Every person comes with footnotes.
Most of us never read them.
-including our own.

POSTS STORIES REELS

We spend so much time trying to understand ourselves.
Why we overthink.
Why we react the way we do.
Why certain words stay with us for years.

Sometimes the answers aren't found in big life events. Sometimes they're hidden in the small details we overlook. I like to think of those details as footnotes.

This page is a collection of observations about human behavior, self awareness, relationships, emotions, overthinking, personal growth, and the quiet patterns that shape who we become.

Not to tell you what to think. Just to offer another perspective.

Welcome to Footnotes, by Satya :) by @footnotes.by.satya

Breaking character isn't a failure. It's how you save your own peace. Share this with the friend who needs to hear this.

Maybe you're not asking for too much. Maybe you've just been asking someone who can't or doesn't want to give you what you need.

And, that's not a sign to ask for less. It's a sign to look elsewhere.

Beyond the celebrations outside, I hope today brings you a different kind of freedom. Freedom from overanalyzing every conversation, freedom from seeking validation in places that leave you empty, and freedom from shrinking yourself just to make others comfortable.

True independence is finding peace inside your own mind. Save this as a gentle reminder for the days things get too noisy, and send it to someone who deserves a little extra peace today. ✨

Sometimes a person can become completely irrelevant to your present life...and yet, a conversation with them can still make you think about how you behave around them.

Not because you miss them. Not because you want them back. Just because there's history. And history can make a simple "How have you been?" feel like a much bigger question than it actually is.

Maybe that's why I stayed quiet. Not out of resentment or indifference. I just wasn't sure whether that small gesture was mine to make anymore.

We do this all the time. Someone takes longer to reply or behaves differently than usual...and before we know it, we've already decided what it means.

They're upset with me. I must have done something. And most of the time, none of it is true. Our minds hate uncertainty. So when we don't have an answer, we create one.

The problem is, we don't just create a story. We feel it as if it's true. Maybe the next time your mind starts filling in the blanks, pause for a second and ask:

"Do I know this for sure... or am I just assuming it?" Because sometimes, the thing stealing your peace isn't what happened. It's what you imagined happened.

Sometimes, you don't need someone to tell you that you handled it perfectly or didn't. You just need them to understand why it hurt.

There's something incredibly comforting about being able to tell someone what happened without immediately having to defend your feelings, explain your intentions, or hear what you "should have done."

Being understood doesn't always mean someone agrees with you. Sometimes it simply means they cared enough to understand why it mattered to you. And if someone came to your mind while reading this...they probably know exactly what I mean.

Some people don't express love through long paragraphs. They remember the little things. They make time, even when they're busy.

It's easy to overlook these things because they don't make a lot of noise. But if you think about it...that's probably what love looks like most of the time.

If someone came to your mind while watching this, don't just keep scrolling. Send this to them. Sometimes people who quietly put in the most effort never hear that it was noticed.

What's one small thing that makes you feel loved? 😃❤️ by @footnotes.by.satya

Someone asked me recently, "Why is it so hard to move on?"

I don't think it's always because we can't let go of a person. Sometimes it's because we don't know how to let go of the version of ourselves that only existed in that chapter of our life. The excitement. The hope. The feeling of being deeply seen.

Maybe that's what we're grieving.

Sometimes we spend more time imagining someone's reaction... than actually talking to them. We rewrite. We tweak. We delete.

Not because we don't know what we feel. But because we're trying to protect ourselves from a response that hasn't even happened yet. Maybe you've done it with a text. Maybe with an apology. Maybe with "I miss you." Maybe with "Can we talk?"

Sometimes the hardest conversations aren't the ones that go badly. They're the ones that never happen. Happened with you?

I've definitely done this.
Someone sends a dry text...and before I know it, I've already imagined five different reasons why. Most of them were wrong. Maybe you've done it too.

What's the shortest message you've ever overthought? by @footnotes.by.satya

I've lost count of how many conversations I've replayed in my head. Not because I wanted to.....but because I kept wondering if I'd been misunderstood.

Maybe that's why these moments stay with us. Not because we need better words. But because we're looking for reassurance after the moment has already passed. Have you ever done this too?
