“For a Moment, We Were Here” Available on Amazon Kindle. Link on the profile page! Boston, 1990s. A city of a quarter million students scattered across more than fifty colleges and universities. They come from everywhere—Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, New York—each searching for something. A degree. A fresh start. A place to belong. Patrick Lam was just one of them. He had many friends. He had no friend. Then his girlfriend left him. His old friends stopped calling. He never talked about why. But then a professor believed in him. A quiet Indonesian boy saw him clearly. And a girl named Sarina trusted him with her deepest wound. For a moment, everything was right there. A second chance. A new beginning. And then it wasn’t. For a Moment, We Were Here is a novel about the people who pass through our lives—the ones we hold onto, the ones who betray us, and the ones we let go before we know what we’re losing. For anyone who has ever looked back and wondered: what became of them? @abrahamisnotmyname @lincolnchan by @foramomentwewerehere

@foramomentwewerehere is about the small moments that change everything. There are no epic scenes in this novel. No grand gestures. No dramatic confrontations. Everything is small. A smoke outside an izakaya. A drunk friend. A car pulling away. A boy standing in the corner, watching. A phone that doesn’t ring. A single rose bought at half price. A bowl of noodles at 3 a.m. A half-spoken word. A door that closes. We never know which moment will change everything. We only see it thirty years later. Life took another course because of those small, unimportant moments. That is my philosophy in life. by @foramomentwewerehere
Book Review: The Strange Library by Haruki Murakami The Pitch: A dark, beautifully illustrated fairy tale about a boy trapped in a library basement by a brain-eating librarian. The Hidden Message Beneath its bizarre surface, the book carries a quiet warning: Blind obedience turns curiosity into a cage. The boy ends up trapped in the dungeon not by force, but because he is too polite to say “no” to an authority figure. Murakami uses this nightmare to reveal how societal expectations and passive compliance can quietly consume your mind—symbolized literally by the librarian eating the boy’s brain—if you forfeit your own agency to please others. #Bookreview #japanesefiction #村上春樹 #thestrangelibrarymurakami #bookstagram by @foramomentwewerehere
@henrywooseoul Henry was reading this book during his vacation in Bali 🏝️☀️🇮🇩 @foramomentwewerehere He enjoyed the part that said “Two triangles smashed together, what do you even call that? A star shape? Really it’s just a knot.” by @foramomentwewerehere
Shenzhen: bubble tea travels by drone. 🛸🧋 Meituan drone drops aren’t an IG myth—they’re real. Over 1M flyby deliveries completed. Look up—lunch is landing. Drones touch down at yellow booths in parks in 12 mins. Traffic? Never heard of it. by @foramomentwewerehere
A classroom in Boston. Students reading Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises. They discuss the Lost Generation. The war. The impossible love between Jake and Brett. But they are not lost. They are foreign students in Boston. They go to clubs. They fall in love. They are young. They are alive. And yet—two of them were living the novel. Bayu is Jake. He is gay. He loves Julia. He cannot have her. Julia is Brett. The campus slut with a label she cannot shake. The one man who truly loves her is the one man who can never be with her. Impossible love. A door that will not open. They were not the Lost Generation. But one of them was. Patrick Lam. The Hong Kong kid who drifted. The one who failed his classes. The one who lost his friends. The one who sat in that classroom, reading about Jake Barnes, and realized he was reading about himself. The others were living. Patrick was hiding. They would remember college as a good time. Patrick would carry the questions for thirty years. They were studying a novel about dislocation. He was living it. For a Moment, We Were Here. @foramomentwewerehere A novel about contradictions, impossible love, and the small moments that change everything. by @foramomentwewerehere
This movie clip had nothing to do with my book. @foramomentwewerehere It was a sad scene from one of my favourite movies. It was all longing—the kind that sat in your chest and refused to leave—and love, or maybe the fate of love: the way two people could be meant for each other and still miss their moment. I rewatched it over and over, not for the story, but to build the mood I needed to write this book. It held the ache of almost. I let it haunt me until I could finally finish the book. The scene was set in the 1990s, which was perfect for my book. It showed New York City in that period of time. #movieclip #newyork1990s by @foramomentwewerehere
Excerpt from my book @foramomentwewerehere “Logan Airport is a non-place. It bears the name of someone few remember. Logan. Who was Logan? The name is there, but the story is gone. A label without a memory. That is the final trick of a non-place. It wipes away its own past. Nothing sticks. Nothing lasts. And yet—between the rushing, the crowds, the announcements, real life happens. People say goodbye at security, crying, hugging for too long. A woman drops her bag and runs to her boyfriend. A nervous student arrives for their first semester, stepping off the plane with no idea what lies ahead. Logan Airport was built to process people, not feelings. But the feelings come anyway. They always do. It is a place so full of memories, even though it was designed not to hold any.” by @foramomentwewerehere
