POSTS STORIES REELS

It’s all in the details.

Behind every piece is someone who knows the work. Our craftspeople build, sew, and finish furniture right here in Columbus, Ohio.

We’re proud to make it in America. It shows in every seam, edge, and joint.

Let’s go back to the beginning.

In 1929, David Fortner started reupholstering chairs in a garage on Columbus’s south side. Almost 100 years later, we’re still family owned and still on the south side, right around the corner from where he started.

Four generations in, everything we make is still crafted by hand in Columbus. From a single chair to a full hotel rollout, we’re proud of every piece that leaves the shop.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the story.

A little sneak peek.

We went out and shot this loveseat, and the rest of the pieces, in their finished space. Here’s how it looks before it leaves the shop: channel back, tapered legs with brass caps, and a big floral print wrapped all the way around.

Photos of everything installed are coming soon.

Hope this email finds you well. This is how it finds us.

A typical day at Fortner. Frames going together. Upholstery getting done. Pieces loaded up and installed on site.

Busy, hands-on, and always something new on the table.

Happy Friday from the shop.

A few shots from the last few days. A curved frame coming together. Batting getting cut to size. Edges being worked by hand.

Lots of different hands on lots of different pieces. That's a normal week here.

Have a good weekend.

@bristolrepublic is now open in Dublin!

We built custom curved banquettes and more, with tufting throughout. Seeing them in a working restaurant is the best part. Go check them out.

And when you do, let us know. We’d like to get back in there for more than an install.

As always, we enjoyed working with @brackettbuildersinc on this one!

Good seating doesn't have to be replaced. Sometimes it just needs a fresh start.

We reupholstered the seating at The Avenue and gave the dining room a whole new look. Same pieces, new life, ready for the next few years of dinner service.

Reupholstery keeps the investment working long after install. It's part of how we think about every piece we build.

Vibrant feels. Fortner built.

Custom lounge seating for @prototype.museum in Columbus. Bold magenta fabric, oversized rounded forms, and a built-in platform base that runs the length of the room. The seating was built to match the energy of the space and hold up through the kind of traffic a venue like this sees every night.

Seating should feel as good as it looks and be built to handle years of real use.

The finished space at Hilton Columbus Downtown.

This was a great collaboration with our friends at @dcollective_ where we made multiple custom banquettes, built right here in Columbus for a busy hotel restaurant. Deep tufting along the planter wall. Vertical channel seating across the room. Different styles, one space.

Hotel dining sees constant use from early breakfast to late dinner. That's the kind of traffic we build for.

Every piece starts with a team, not a machine.

Frames get built by hand. Wood gets finished by hand. Leather gets pulled and stretched by hand. Every step in this shop involves someone paying close attention to the work in front of them.

That's what craftsmanship looks like in Columbus.
