POSTS STORIES REELS

BARCELONA - The signs were telling: @oscarsilvente was cooking something through the summer, not alone, and that was @_freecando_ (pun intended). This set was recorded live there, all green open-air, before Nathalie Seres and Vera. "It is one of those I have prepared with the most care and attention, and its sound I'd say really defines me as a selector."

"I was playing in front of the people closest to me and that I love the most, who also have always supported me since I do this." Homeboy for the hometown.

the relationship we have with the place where we live is mutable, but simply because everything changes. we do, individually, and cities do - constantly in transition, motion itself seems to keep them running.

the acceptance of change makes leaving, and returning, also easier to consider. and in this way too we contribute to the motion of the city. it's not always the "right" time to be somewhere, and returns can feel many ways: sweet, nostalgic, bitter, healing.

𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘴 have long been the subject of fascination and romance. already among the ancient Greeks, where stories of epic returns (Nóstoi) even precede the Odyssey, the most famous of all journeys 'back to somewhere'.

often I found myself thinking that was 'it' with a place, and as often I found myself returning, revisiting, reconsidering. if this is not just a story of renewals, what more there is to it? and how do we live it?

MOLENBEEK - In a sense, it has all been quite typically Belgian with @camiflage_snaretraderecords. First we talked of hometown Antwerp for this mix, but also - his life has actually been mostly in Brussels. So Brussels. But the city also has 19 municipalities, which are actually distinct and separate. Of those, Molenbeek is where he made his home. Lots of records will be played in that living room.

HELSINKI - @xojelma sent a postcard from Finland 💌 ethereal, punchy, light on the feet. No stones left unturned by Annika, coming from a memorable Solstice Festival set earlier in summer.

"This mix is a love letter to Helsinki, echoing the city's subtle contradictions - calm on the surface, yet bubbling with tingly electricity underneath. Moody yet beautiful, alive with quirky souls and heated nights unfolding within the most orderly, standardized surroundings."

BARQUISIMETO 🇻🇪 - When with @lm58music we spoke of his hometown in Venezuela, the June 24 earthquake had not happened yet. One of my fav Barcelona-based selectors, he told me how Barquisimeto found its own way into the currents of electronic music.

Late 90s UK acid techno washing in first, taken up by one of the scene's early pioneers, and planted at the heart of the local raves. By the mid-2000s that sound had shifted into progressive, carried by DJ Yayo (Eduardo Javith) - though the acid never really left. All result of influences and travels.

In this beauty of a mix, LM reaches for how his city might sound now, filtered through his distinct sense of taste: occasionally tech-y, prog, 'pero siempre loopero.'

. This episode fully supports and contributes to the fundraising launched on @danceshakeswing. All donations collected are transparent, and the proceeds donated to reliable, community-driven initiatives on the ground. See Bandcamp for more info 🤝🏻
