Every right you have in India was once called dangerous.

No untouchability: Vaikom, 1924. Abolished by Article 17, 1950.
The vote for every adult: before 1950, under 15% of Indians could vote.
Temple entry: Travancore, 1936.
The right to protest: the Raj jailed Tilak and Gandhi for "sedition". Sedition lives on today as Section 152 of the BNS.
The right to organise: Madras mill strike, 1920. Trade Unions Act, 1926.
Land to the tiller: Kerala, 1970.
Right to information: MKSS in Rajasthan, then the RTI Act, 2005.
Forest rights: Forest Rights Act, 2006.
Safe at work: Vishaka judgment, 1997.
Love who you love: Navtej Singh Johar judgment, 2018.

None of them were gifts. Each one was fought for, and the people fighting were called dangerous, seditious or worse.

And rights can be taken back. MGNREGA guaranteed rural work on demand from 2005. In December 2025 it was repealed and replaced by the VB-G RAM G Act, which funds work by allocation instead of demand.

"Lost rights are never regained by begging, and by appeals to the conscience of the usurpers, but by relentless struggle." B.R. Ambedkar, 1927.

Not a rebellion. A correction.
