Yesterday, Salah Sarsour walked out of detention and into the arms of a community that never stopped fighting for him. A reminder that solidarity matters. Community matters. And that when the people stand together, they will never be defeated. Our work is not done until every family is reunited and every person is free. 📣 SALAH SARSOUR IS FREE! “We’re getting our dad back!” Salah’s son, Kareem Sarsour, said. “This experience has been a nightmare to wake up to every day, with his health at risk in a cruel basement cell simply for speaking up for Palestine. But we know who my dad is, he’s a voice for the voiceless and the heart of our family and our community. I can’t wait to hug him, and I hope everyone like him will be released.” by @freesalahsarsour
On Sept 29, 2026, a US immigration judge ruled that Salah Sarsour, a Palestinian community leader who has lived in the US for 33 years, can be deported on foreign policy grounds tied to decades-old Israeli convictions he denies. His lawyers say the confessions were coerced, and the judge accepted the convictions as valid anyway. The judge already threw out the claims that he lied on his green card application and that he falsely registered to vote. He’s already endured over 80 days in ICE detention center. His family still faces the fear of losing him. This is not a final order, and his lawyers will appeal.  They say he was targeted for his Palestine advocacy.  Follow @justice48org and freesalah.org by @freesalahsarsour

" The First Amendment...is not existing all over America." Salah reflects on practicing his faith while in custody, where even praying Fajr became a confrontation. For Salah, the experience revealed that First Amendment rights are not always afforded in every space.. He joins Dr. Ed Hasan and attorney Patrick Taurel for the conversation. Thank you, @reprashida, for persistently standing on the side of justice and refusing to stay silent. We urge every member of Congress to use their voice, their platform, and the full weight of their office to confront this administration’s lawlessness and hold it accountable. #FreeSalahSarsour by @freesalahsarsour
“I Call It T*rture” In this episode, Salah Sarsour recounts his imprisonment and treatment in Israeli custody, including physical abuse, sleep deprivation, and harsh interrogation. Today, after legally building a life and community in the United States with his wife, children, grandchildren, and elderly mother, he faces deportation. For Salah, the experience of being forced from the place he calls home is happening again. He joins Dr. Ed Hasan and attorney Patrick Taurel for the conversation. Thank you, @senatorbaldwin, for becoming the latest co-sponsor of @senalexpadilla’s Land of the Free Act. As the Trump administration doubles down on weaponizing the Immigration and Nationality Act against pro-Palestine advocates and immigrants whose speech it disagrees with, Congress cannot sit on the sidelines. More members need to step up, defend the First Amendment, and put an end to this rogue abuse of immigration law. #FreeSalahSarsour by @freesalahsarsour
Salah Sarsour is a beloved leader of the Wisconsin community, as well as a vocal advocate for interfaith collaboration and justice for all people. Mr. Sarsour is guilty of nothing other than speaking out for the rights of the Palestinian people and in favor of a foreign policy that places American interests first. Deporting him for his speech would violate the Constitution and turning him over to the same Israeli government that tortured him in his youth would endanger his life, especially given that most Israeli prisons are now controlled by convicted terrorist Itamar Ben-Gvir. All political leaders who value the First Amendment must speak out against this targeting of Salah Sarsour and others targeted for daring to express support for Palestinian human rights. by @freesalahsarsour
