$Concert talk with @amanisloleymusic and post concert glow. Last Saturday I had a privilege of hearing my trio for flute, violin and cello performed at Fractured Flowers in Five, a contemporary music series in Brampton. This five part series, organized by @composerscanvas , features contemporary classical music pieces in an unorthodox places (the last one was in Aura House in an old shoe factory building). Their next concert is on November 21st and will continue each month until February. #composer #composerscanvas #contemporaryclassical #concerttalks #fracturedflowersinfive by @funky_violin$

Art Strollers first concert of the season is this Sunday September 20th at 11am!

This acclaimed classical music concert series for families with young children is now in its 4th season. We shared the music with so many young ones and for some of them our concert was the very first concert they attended.

For more info and 2026/2027 concert schedule check out @artstrollerstoronto 🎵🎻🎶

Dark 4

And so it is.

The end of storms
Clearings ahead
Dreams made.

All the lips you have kissed
And hands inside hands
That felt familiar.

Nothing lasts forever
Not you, not the storms.

Dark 3

It smells like electromagnets,
This storm that carries
Light and darkness
Mixed with love
For the smallest of us.

Dark 2

I touch your face as the hail knocks on the window.
Shadows blend into the wall,
One big canvas for us to play.
Maybe tomorrow, you say.
I accept the invitation.

Last night a magnificent storm passed through Toronto. We lost power, trees fell down, there were floods and strong winds.

And yet, in the middle of that and underneath dark skies, there was silence that was calling for improvisation. Improvisation that delved in solitude and darkness, and pulled on the heart strings.

This is Dark 1, the first of 4 improvising vignettes made in the storm.

Magic. Mystery.
Trees of wonder.
How many times did you inhale the solitude among the green Gods?
Endless times, of course.
Your heart said yes to every step and you kept singing.
Deep into that forest.

Do you have a favourite forest? This is mine.

Green rivers. Elegant arches singing over them.
Time reflected in stones. Crossing but never moving.
Such is the story of this land.

1. Arslanagica Cuprija (Arslanagic Bridge), Trebinje. Built in 1574. National monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

2. Na Drini Cuprija (The Old Bridge), Visegrad. Built 1571-1577. Unesco Heritage.

3. Stari Most (The Old Bridge), Mostar. Built 1557-1566. Destroyed November 9, 1993. Rebuilt 2001-2004.

4. Kriva Cuprija (Crooked Bridge), Mostar. Built in 1558.

I love libraries. They have a peaceful energy, like a really nice shade of brown.
It is comforting to know that any moment now I will find that one book, the one that is written for me.
I could become anyone in the library and still be myself.

In my heart I am an artist. Often poetic, occasionally wild, always inventing. I can grab a thought from the cloud and make it into a story. I can make your feet dance with my music. Creativity is a must for me.

But here is what CrossFit added to my world:

1. Grit (love this word)

2. Determination

3. Persistence (such an undervalued quality in humans)

4. Understanding that being an underdog is a perfect opportunity for growth

To two of my favourite places, @crossfit_lugal and @cfolympic - thank you!
